Cliffy, A success story indeed! Regarding your question on my thread about Central Florida highlights:
Outdoors: Blue Springs State Park (Manatee watching if it's cool out and canoeing) Wekeiwa Springs State Park (awesome canoeing and a spring fed pool) Beaches - my favorite is Ponce Inlet (s. of Daytona Beach as far as you can drive) But Melbourne, Daytona Beach Shores and New Smyrna are also nice for taking the kids. For people watching, Daytona and Cocao are better
Food - Restaurants are not the strong suit. There is a cool seafood joint at Ponce Inlet called Down the Hatch, outdoor seating on the bayside. Also Boston's Fish House in New Smyrna has the best fried seafood in the area (or at least the one in Orlando does.) In the tourist area (by Disney), you can find just about everything, but at tourist prices and service levels!
Nightlife - Don't know much about beachside. Downtown Disney and CityWalk at Universal have all kinds of stuff, music, piano bars, etc. There are quite a few cool bars around town, but if you have SS with you, probably won't have much chance anyway.
If you want to try to meet up, you can send me an email as in my profile. I love taking the kids to the beach!
Take care, SD.
