Beginning again like a newbie

Tonight I'm having a dinner party. there will be four of us. 3 who are either S or D and one who is single. I've met them all since I H left. One right here on the BB. I'm so looking forward to it.

This morning I was up early to prepare the food. Here is the menu:

Homemade: tomato and mixed vegetable soup with french toast
Baked trout with stir fry vegetables
Homemade rhubard crumble and custard.

I've tried to put something red/pink into every course. We will be drinking pink champagne and rose wine!

This morning I went out and bought 4 red heart shaped ballons (helium ones). I've made some pink, heart shaped peppermint creams and put them in nice containers. These containers I have wrapped in red tissue paper and then I have used them for the weights for the ballons. One for each guest (including me ). I also bought some heart shaped decorations to hang from the dining room ceiling. We are celebrating loving ourselves and having each other in our lives!

Unexpectedly H called to pick S15 up. I had just brought the ballons in from out of the car. They were just floating in the hall! He never asked and I never said but I'm sure it got him thinking.

About half an hour before MIL had been round. I had just finished making the peppermint creams when she arrived. I told her I was having a dinner party and when she asked who was coming I just said 3 friends.

I was happy and polite whilst H was here I was preparing the trout whilst he stood waiting for S15.

I quite like this creating mystery business. The fact that it wasn't planned is even better
