One of the easiest cd's to start with is "Meditations for Manifesting" by Wayne Dyer. You might be able to find it (or another one) at the library.

As far as being able to quiet you mind.....well that takes practice and patience. You have to be kind to yourself when you realize you're thinking ......again and just gently bring yourself back.

This is where I find my walks and physical activity really helpful b/c I can burn off some of that energy and it makes it easier to quiet my mind.
