Well, you could just start a writer's blog topic. I'm still a little down in the abyss and think whining is perfectly okay. Now -- it's my car.
Hopefully you will post some writing here. I attempted to join a writing group through MeetInAnchorage but it didn't last too long as I just couldn't get out of bed and to an 8 a.m. writing meeting on Saturday morning. I have a hard enough time with mornings Monday through Friday.
Oh let her in already before she starts her whining!
Hey Paw,
Have you heard from our boy lately? I tried to call him, even left him a message and nothing. Just hoping everything is going well in his little tube sock world.
A writers group..........ewwwwww how fun. I've missed mine with the weather but I have my piece all written and ready to go for the March meeting. You'd been good at running this Joe since you're so passionate about writing. I have enough trouble just keeping myself on track, everyone else would be on their own.
How about a little story about a pole dancer and a tube sock wearing perve?
A writer that I've recently gotten in to is Janet Evanovich. My Mom had some of her books last time I was there and they're hysterical. Fast reading, good for a laugh, etc. I can finish one in a few hours. Makes a nice break from some of the other stuff I read.
What kind of writing are you getting serious about?
I'm thinking right now I'd like to try something that isn't science fiction or fantasy, simply because it's unfamiliar. If I'm going to have people helping me, I want to put the effort into something I've never or rarely done before just because it is something new.
I picked up Card's "How to Write Science Fiction and Fantasy" and practically devoured it. I need to be careful about getting lost "reading about writing" (or getting lost caring for my thread here, too!). I have Bradbury on writing, and a couple books of writing exercises, and I have my eye on another about myths, archetypes, and fiction writing, yet the day has only 1,440 minutes and some of that must be spent in pursuit of chocolate.
But I will check those blogs more carefully, thanks!

I have toyed with the idea of a blog myself. I think it could even potentially develop into a small income stream. I am just trying to decide on what the focus could be.
Writing? Hacking? Life?
It seems to me that the folks who write well and write "real" in their blogs generate a following. If one is trying to make money at it, one needs a commercial angle of some sort, but blogging for the sake of writing to an audience can be anything, so long as the writer cares about the subject matter. Others who care will coalesce around the blog.

With all the Guinness talk, I thought I would share this web-site.
I signed the petition, though it seems it must be in jest. They could borrow wording from the annual proclamations of Irish American Heritage Month if they seriously wanted to get any attention from politicians.

What's with the car? I didn't see it if you mentioned it on your thread, unless that's the insurance issue.

Have you thought about working up a writers' group that meets later in the day? We moved our meetings to later in the evening right away yesterday, because yesterday's was set at the latest time I could reserve a room in the library. We just moved from the library to get a later time.
Sally,

oooh...a writers group. I love it. have fun with it! fiction? non-fiction? subjects? free-for-all?
Fiction, any genre. There's already a local poetry writers' group, but none of the four of us from last night's meeting have ever attended that. I've thought about it, but the only poetry I have to my name is not something I would want to share with people unless I know them well enough to believe I can share it.
Wanna do an online group?

I'm late to the party here as well, suppose Karen will share with me??????
Karen's nice. Just ask her.

Missed your call the other day. I'll try you next.
I'm hoping to get my smoke break tomorrow. The schedule has been wacky all week with the budget issues that come from not being DoD or Homeland Security. In that sense, the old job with the horrible commute was "safer" since there's no way that project will lose funding. But things will settle down here, eventually, too, and I can get back to some semblance of a regular daily schedule.

I don't have a lot published but I would love to get back into writing.
I haven't been published for any fiction. WTG, you!

can I join your writers group? I would have to submit electronically but I tried to start one around here...no luck
I don't know if this group we started yesterday would agree to have "telecommuters" but I'll ask. On the other hand, if you, Bethie, and Sally don't mind that I would probably send the same stuff to both groups, I'm game for an online group among us. Bethie has my email if you want to write to me about it.
I won't pretend that I can produce enough to "submit" different stuff to more than one writing group. I need to be careful about doing this right, because it's becoming more and more important to me.
Bethie,
Will you be my Valentine?
Happy St. Valentine's Day!

I haven't heard from the good fellow myself, though I did get to leave an actual voice mail yesterday, so he cleaned up some space in his voice mail account.

We can do our own little writing group online if you like. Sally and Fig sound interested. Let me know.

I'll take a look. I need to read something besides science fiction (and project mgmt. documentation!) these days.

You sound great, Joe!!!
I'm doing well these days. I can see myself and my reactions to things in ways I didn't at another time. Best of all, I can correct the reactions that I don't want to have in my character before I act. It's been a long time coming, but I do like the ways things are working out in my life.
Mini update:
Tomorrow is St. Valentine's Day! Finally!
I went and bought a new pink tie to wear tomorrow. I was sure I had one, but I can't find it now, so I'm glad I went and got this one. Next year I'll be ready ahead of time with a pink bow tie, but with one store in the county that sells men's clothes, and doesn't carry shirts and pants in my sizes, I'll settle for a new pink tie this year.
Now I gotta run and get some real work done. I hope everyone has a great St. Valentine's Day and remember (especially Lissie and others on the first post-D St. Valentine's Day), You Are The Beloved.
Thanks,
Joe
