Still attraction is not a choice. Its a response. If you want her attraction, DONT be a puppy.
Color me confused. I thought maintaining my attraction to my mate was my business. Or rather, that it's a 50/50 thing. He has to try to remain attractive, as do I, but I disagree it's only a response. At least it must be more after the first two years when the dopamine rush levels out.
Again; the diagnosis is unknown. Brian's medical history, and how often he 'gets sick' is unknown. I'm not saying his timing was on purpose... but, it is interesting that he had a relapse while his wife was out of town. I cannot FATHOM ANY SPOUSE, who had another spouse in a 'touch and go' situation, not being on the phone, finding out what was what.
My son is just now recovering from a viral chest infection, that by all intents and purposes, reflected a heart attack, or acute pneumonia. And if you don't take care of yourself, it can relapse.
I'm not downplaying Brian, but given that he has not shown up here since his first initial posts... he either underwent something VERY serious, or his wife is home.
Now... is Blackfoot a genius... I still go back to the Wizard of Oz. Very much a man behind that curtain, no matter how charming or eloquent. Has great thoughts... certainly comes across as an intelligent man... well read... good sense of humor... beyond that... GAVEL SMACK... insufficient evidence to rule as such. IMHO.

I'm not at all sure you've got the gavel on that one.
It's interesting, this amusing debate. A bit analogous to an Israeli writing a book on Palestinians that when other Israelis follow the ideas therein results in peace between the two sides. Then some goofy Israeli says, "This author is a genius!" and the Palestinians say, "Uh, no, that author doesn't understand us nearly as much as that goofy Israeli seems to believe."
And the goofy one thinks well, we've now got peace in the Middle East. The Palestinians will think whatever pleases them but I know who's going to win the Nobel Prize...

Blackfoot has some interesting ideas but until he makes it work in a LTR "after eight years and a couple of kids" it's all speculative. Or someone else follows his ideas and makes it work. That'd be proof too.
It's interesting, this amusing debate... etc., etc.,
Nose twitch... biting lip... giggle... giggle some more... erupting laughter ensues... can't breath... going into silent laugh mode...
okay.. okay... this is my serious face now... seriously... giggle... no, I'm being serious.
There was once a boy, sitting in a car with his grandfather, stuck in traffic. Ahead of them was a bus that had become lodged in a tunnel, and it was blocking traffic in both directions. Men tried and tried to figure out how to dislodge the bus from the tunnel so as not to damage it structurally.
Tired of waiting, the little boy shouted out to the men "Let the air out of the bus tires!" The men did so, the height of the bus lowered below the height of the tunnel, and easily rolled free.
Is the boy a genius? Or perhaps a keen observer? Did he win a Nobel Prize, or was he just in possession of some common sense?
I've known a few geniuses in my day. Both stunned me with their mental acuity (and least in their area), but neither could find their way out of a paper bag to save their own lives.

I see the proof all the time, often on this very chat board.
If making it work in an LTR for sixteen years with a couple of kids is proof of something, I've got a boxful of my old theories down in the basement I can sell ya. Probably some other guys around here do as well. We might make a killing on ebay.

I'm so disappointed. I totally expected you to point out that "genius" is a label.
Here, you take the gavel.
Yes. I'd hate for it to fall into the wrong hands.
BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!1!!@!!1
ETA: Btw SG, you should well know that a better test of a theory is if it's predictive.

Exactly. Have the theories helped you be in a successful LTR after "a couple of kids" where there's still attraction, passion, respect, etc. That was my question. I think bf is quite right about the laws of short-term attraction, btw. And yes, a theory should be predictive, and "capable of being tested through experiment or otherwise falsified through empirical observation."
First, expectations, now... assumptions... (tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, Burg)... I never suggested anything of the kind... but now that you mention it... I've heard it is quite a lovely experience for some people...

What happened to the newer, nicer Corri? I loved that woman! I miss her already....
What happened to her? Why... she is filled with such mirth and giggling, she can barely type... not the least of which, ideas on what one could do with a gavel...
