Oh, I thought "Nit Picking" was a taboo subject - LOL! Nope, never had it with my boys. But sweet little Ashley with the long blonde hair got sent home from school with it. And wanna hear a really funny thing? It was probably the only time I went out and didn't put my cel phone on. So ex got the call. He had to leave work, pick up D, get the shampoo and nit pick! Ash was only about 8! Chuckie was NOT in a good mood when I walked in the house, totally unsuspecting. Ash was SO upset. Wanted to cut all that pretty hair off!
2 weeks later it happened again. This time at the cottage.I had to do it there - Yuck again!
As to the gifts. Hmmmm - boys ALWAYS love electronics. But I think my kids remember the gifts the most. And spending time with them one on one. Is there a trip you could do with Jack apart from the one with Jake? Something unique for him? I just think trips are meaningful. But then - they don't call me Travelbarb for nuthin!

I just battled the nits in November and XH did not do a thing to help. I had to wash and pick both of my younger two kids several times before we were completely rid of it. I didn't expect any help from him though. When D17 was about 7 (and I was very pregnant with D10) she had lice and he didn't lift a finger to help then either. I did the shampooing very stressed about the possible effects on the unborn baby, and sat and did the nit picking with my huge belly in the way. Typical behavior for him....leaving me to do everything.
Did you reach a deciusion on the gifts yet. The 18th b-day is a milestone. Good luck with that!

OK Bethie, you've got mail. I had to let AOL calm down because it wouldn't work Friday for some reason.
The one thing you can't see in the pics are the color of Jake's eyes. Other than height, it's the only thing he got from his dad. Jack's are blue too, but Jake's are as blue as the sky. Of course, Jake's are way prettier than his dad's because his are set against dark skin and hair, which makes them even more gorgeous. Of course, I'm prejudiced, can you tell?
Only a parent could know how traumatic that is. For some reason, boys don't get em cause they don't primp and share hair brushes.
But at least when Sarah did have them, my entire house was spotless and so was my car. It was traumatic for me, not her.
No, I haven't yet reached a decision. I need to call X and see if he''s up to doing our regular milestone birthday thing on Wednesday and take them to dinner. I dread that, but he's always pleasant since the D, so that is what I will do. I'm getting ready to go to Best Buy and look around - again.
Jack has been afraid of planes since 9-11. He didn't go to my Dad's funeral because we flew. I don't know that he'll ever get over it. Let's see, he was 11 - 12 then and he will not fly. Jake loved it though, thought it was awesome.
