Well, it is done. Apparently my final divorce decree was signed 1/31/08. I am divorced. No fanfare, I wasn't even aware of it that day. I have been checking the court website daily and saw it today. It was granted the day before my birthday. And my name change was granted as well, so I am back to my maiden name. When I saw it I got that feeling in my stomach, but no real sadness. I will tell the kids this afternoon.

Suzy..........

I'm sure that you had some mixed emotions when you found out for sure that you were divorced. I did, but not the puddle of tears that I would have inspected. I guess after it drags on for any length of time it's easier on us when it's over, and done, and all but a distant memory.

Good luck Suzy, welcome to your new life. It can be whatever you want it to be!

Love,
Bethie

My stomach did a little flip-flop, but my eyes were definitely dry. Then I went to lunch and told a couple of my friends and they gave me high-fives. LOL They have been with me through all the crap he threw my way.

It does seem somewhat anticlamctic to find out by checking a website. LOL.

Hi Suzy!

Thinking of you and saw your new post. Just wanted to say hi and give you my best. Yes, it does seem strange to get that kind of news over a website. Everything is so cold and unfeeling these days. Not like getting a divorce is a warm and happy event for most but still. To me, it is almost inhumane. I don't know. Maybe it's my mood today but it kinds of makes me sad with the world.

Hugs to you.

Wow, Trip came out of the woodwork!!!!!! (Or Far finally untied her.) Thanks for the well wishes. It is a sad commentary on the state of the world that something so life altering can be so impersonal. I kind of wish we had to go to court to face it. Maybe he wouldn't have taken it so coldly then, but probably not. I am sure he would have been bitter and nasty about it if we had to go in, so this was much easier.

Suzy,

It's a sign of the times that a divorce can end a marriage so quickly and with so little concern. People who care about marriage are brushed aside. The legal system is built to produce as many divorces as possible in as little time as possible.

Now it's time to get serious about your surfing!

Thanks,
