I hadn't worn my wedding ring in about 4 years. I took it off mainly because I had worn it for over 20 years, and just wanted a new piece of jewelry. Clearly with me, 20 years, one piece of jewelry is a record. It's yellow gold, and white gold was in. And I have another ring that is white gold that my H gave me for our 20 anniversary, so I felt that still symbolized the marriage, even though no one else would recognize it. While I wore other rings I gained weight, and the wedding ring no longer fit. So then I couldn't wear it and I kept saying I would bring it to a jeweler to be made larger, but I haven't done that yet. Anyway, a few days ago I tried it on, and it fit. Tight, but it fit. So I've been wearing it for about 5 days now. Except right now, I just pried it off; it's too tight again. Anyway, the whole point of all this is that I don't think my husband noticed at all that I wore it again. So I guess I'll go back to rings that fit. At least until I get this made larger, or lose weight. Which do you think is going to come first?
Not to sound pretentious or anything, but I sooo miss wearing my wedding ring. H noticed every time I did not. It's platinum w/a 1.5 carot diamond. I love it and I miss it..
No, it makes perfect sense. You can have the stone reset into something you would feel more comfortable wearing, like a pendant. I would have trouble not wearing a ring as special as that one. I don't like to be parted from my favorite jewelry.

I was wondering about a ring I got for my 25th.....if I should/could wear it on my right hand. It might not be a happy thing, though, so thought of just saving it for D17. Hadn't thought about having it reset. Thanks for the idea (although since it's a heart shaped diamond not sure if it would like right made into something else).
I love a heart shaped diamond solitaire as a pendant on a short chain so it sits right in the little v at the top of your chest. I've always wanted one of those.
