Care about him - yes

Want the best for him - of course

Want to not ever hurt him - well that may be out of my hands, if I can avoid hurting him without hurting myself in the process then yes.

I don't think love just adds up to the sum of those parts, I can feel that way about a lot of people, I could feel that way about most of the people on this BB for example. It doesn't mean I want to send them a Valentine card with "I love you" written on it.

I agree with Fran. I can feel the above for a neighbor I only talk to a couple times in the summer time.

So, you aren't going to send me a VD card. GEES, I was wanting something from London.

If It is OK with you, Happy Valentine's Day Fran. \:\)

I am one of those guys that bends over backwords for people but almost can't say ILY.

Can I skip VD this year?

Fran, if things are going well, can you tell your H you love him from a point in time to another point in time.

Example: I loved you on Monday but on Tuesday I mostly liked you and on Friday when ABC happened I was controlling my resentment towards you.

Fran,

My own feeling is that a nicely timed ILU can be just what the doctor ordered to spark the healing process and move forward in growth.
