he never helps me out unless i specifically ask him and he only does things that are good for him ========================================== Yes, in a perfect world this would be great, but it won't happen because your H grew up in a different kind of household and because fo the mars-venus effect, you wont' get help unless you ask, don't expect him to mind read as obvious as you think something is.
I have to work on that one, I get home to a big mess most times, and get into a tizy (chairs askew, bits of paper/toys on the floor) and H has told me before how he wished he'd be in the moon when I start picking up stuff with a certain degree of attitude.
Think to yourself, "would I like it if someone talked to me like this?"
