Thanks everyone for all your input. It's funny. We all have our different sitch's, yet somehow they all seem so similar. I think it really is text book stuff in regards to how they act and what they do.
Talking about our S's going for inferior models. The day my W took OM to visit her parents, my MIL absolutely went off at my W in front of the family (not OM). She told her "I'm pushing 60 and I wouldn't kiss that dropkick!" I have never heard her us the "Dropkick" description before (a sporting term where you kick the leather off a rugby ball for minimal points pretty much).
