Saw your post on Jar's page about thinking the East was flat and figured I'd offer some info.
Some of the most beautiful sites on the East that have mountains are North Carolina, West Virginia, & Vermont. Pennsylvania & New York, although they have smaller older mountains, they still have some of the most beautiful fall scenery.
In fact, there's an area in PA that is called the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon that is absolutely beautiful in the fall and somewhat mountainous. And.... last but not least, Pittsburgh, PA has one of the most beautiful sky lines when you drive through the one tunnel coming from the airport into the city. And just about all houses in the city are built on a hill. If you're ever over this way, let me know & my H and I will give you a tour on our motorcycles. :-)
