The baby is a little plastic doll. The person who gets the baby buys the next king cake for the next party. King Cakes are available from 12th night through Mardi Gras day. The one we have here is different though. It seems to be more of a puff pastry dough and it is filled with cream cheese, with the usual frostings. It is a big improvement IMHO.
