Even now I wouldn't push a local R to be exclusive as fast as he's pushing you. It really makes no sense.
It makes no sense if the dating/mating market was perfect, uniform and homogeneous. It's not. Women who share certain characteristics with me are in great demand in certain niches of the market. Therefore, FSG wants to be exclusive with me for basically the same reason that some guys might wait in line overnight to get tickets to the premiere of a Star Trek movie although other men wouldn't bother.
Also, he has a new job that requires him to work out of different areas of the country so any relationship he was in would be to some extent a LDR.
