I would not necessarily extrapolate. Since she used the email example, perhaps she just meant that your *emails* about sex affect her that way, unless she said something specific that makes you think differently.
I'm sure you mean well, but sending email like that is tantamount to saying, "See? I'm right about this. Even scientists agree. You are wrong and getting wronger all the time." It could very likely make you come off a bit patronizing and smug.
