Mojo Egads, I'm hardly playing hard-to-get with the guy. I simply don't have the urge to call somebody if they're calling me every day. I understand. I read the original post as him stating a fact more than him looking for an opinion.
Re my friend: He's probably scaring women off because he's too serious........ Dating should be fun, not a LTR interview process. Agreed.
The (friend's location) 115 miles to a decent size town influences him and other people to be serious. It might be difficult for some people in more populated parts of the country to visualize, but imagine the next small town being 50 miles to the east or if you travel north on the only road going north, the town of 6K population is also about 50 miles distant.
This friend dated a woman that lived 450 miles from where he lives. I thought she was the one but after a while the size of his town and his working class job (safety foreman for a really large company) turned her off. I know they both spent almost too much for travel and lodging expenses. He did most of the visiting and other gentlemanly things.
