Corri,

I'm with ya on everything you said...but I'm not the one that needs convincing ;\) Corri, IC's a hands on kind of guy...no matter what he does. And if he's not able to do that, it drives him fcking nuts! Building the house, fixing the cars...his knee, yes it took a doc to make the repair, but then the ball was in his court and he's pushed himself to make it stronger. Corri, I can see his POV on waiting to see how this surgery comes out because if he's not physically able to do it...like he wants to, it will just be a living hell and burden to him. Is he losing his vision by waiting...nah! The place isn't going anywhere and knowing IC like I do, this is only going to drive him that much harder ;\)

Southern Girl,
I'm...I'm...I'm flattered that you find inspiration in IC. I find it in him everyday...every morning I watch this man get out of bed in pain from the years of abuse that he has put on his body...it takes him a while to get loosened up, but you know what?...he ALWAYS wakes up in a good mood, smile on his face, because today is a new day...a new opportunity to live life. Today might bring some new adventure that might make it even harder for him to get up tomorrow...but by God, he's gonna live it! ...and he's going to enjoy it! THAT is what inspires me.

Yes, I stumbled a little on my decision to stay with IC...but deep down, there was no decision to make! Yes it hurts like Hell {still} but the dedication that he shows towards me and his girls lets me know that it won't happen again.

OK, I'm going home!!! \:\) A sad good-bye for now to my dad, but nothing more I can do down here.

I'm really sorry about your dad. It's tough, seeing someone you know and love change into someone you don't recognize. As for your IC, seeing someone smile and live and fight his darnest every day not to let fatigue, and pain, and uncertainty drag him down because he has a wonderful woman and two little girls is really inspirational. It's the definition of what being a man is all about. That doesn't mean that his screwup doesn't still hurt .. and believe me, you'd not even get at him with your battle-axe through the barriers of pointy-toed shoes from this forum aimed at his a$$, were he to screw up again.

Have a good trip, and let us know how you're doing.

Thanks SG,

You guys on here are the best. I think it's a pretty safe bet to put the pointy-toed shoes away, but I do appreciate ALL the support that I/We have gotten.

A very calm and relaxed day at the IC farm today. A sense of relief in the air. I think IC might be down for the count on the couch in front of the fire. His girl (the dog) laying beside him...she'd follow him to the ends of the world. It feels good to be home \:\)

Kett,
I missed your post but thank you so much. I know I sound like a broken record but the support on here is AMAZING!!! Love you all!

IC,

I don't know when you will get this message but get well soon my man!

Miss IC has kept me posted on your unexpected surgery(s). I know you'll pull through all of this...it's hard to keep a restless spirit like yours down for long and because you have one helluva woman by your side. Hang onto her, she's a keeper!

Get well buddy. My thoughts are with you and your family.

IC, I gather from various scattered posts across the forum that you've been dealing with some tough health stuff. Just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you and Miss IC, and hoping for the best for both of you. Do let me know how you're all doing when you get the chance.

Ok Lil, I finally got a little bit of time on my hands. I'm still going to give you the highly condensed version. Lots of mixed emotions and events involved leading upto and during the initial surgery but that's for another discussion.

IC was originally scheduled for surgery today to have the cancerous section of his femur removed, bone graft and plate put in. Tuesday morning, we were both at home...IC was coming down the stairs and as he took his last step (onto THE leg) his leg broke. Our cancer "team" had informed us that a break was a remote possibility due to the bone being weakened...just never imagined that it could/would happen while walking.

The surgery was performed that day and so far, it has been deemed a success...things in that area appear good. Yesterday morning the concern was raised about blood clots that had formed due to the trauma caused by the break (the broken bone was exposed....eek!!) so another procedure was done to insert a filter to trap any clots from reaching his heart.

Fast forward to today. The doc's decided that a clot that had formed in his lower leg would be best served by surgically removing it so....surgery #3 happened today.

IC is currently resting well. He has a very long haul in front of him, just to see the edge of the woods...but he's progressing.

Thanks for the prayers Lil and same back to you \:\)

Holy moley!! I'm soooo sorry! How awful it must have been when he took that step-- oh God. I can imagine...

I've been in your shoes, my dear-- it's scary. My late H fell in the dining room and broke his hip... had to have hip replacement surgery. It's so hard to see your guy hurting that way.

Needless to say, Miss IC, we're all pulling for him and for you. Big cyberhugs from me (and my gods... I mean "dogs," too! ;\) )
