Hi Cori
Diagnosing humans, computers, and cars that do not start requires the same discipline.
Look at the simple things first then move on.

I found doctors who learned their practice in 3rdWorld Countries or the country away from expensive diagnostic aids do the best diagnosing. A good book I used while in Iraq was 'Where there is no Doctor'. You can buy it online. It was written for Central American Missionaries who often worked with the local Shamans to help the population. It is written in a straightforward language and even I could understand. It was recommended to by by a Independent Duty Corpsman who worked all over the world often in the Jungle.

However most maladies like pink eye are the same everywhere.

Corri, My friend has tinnitus ( ringing in the ear) for the longest time. She has also gone through major extensive neurological testing, all kinds of treatments, steroids, etc, but it is still thete. it is driving her crazy that the medical community has no understanding of why it's not resolving, and of course, she just wants this fixed. It is plain frustrating.

10 months, huh? Has it been getting worse during that time? If not, it's probably not life-threatening.

Yeah, that's not going to help you when it's late at night and everyone else is sleeping. But give it a try. Not much else you can do while you're waiting, right?

My D had chronic pink eye as an infant because her tear ducts didn't open fully. It went away as soon as they were surgically opened. Therefore, I would hypothesize that it might not be that you have some kind of persistent rare bacteria but rather that your system isn't mechanically doing a good enough job of clearing out the regular bacteria. Have you tried natural tears drops? Of course, I probably don't need to mention that you should stop wearing all eye makeup.

I was reading this article by a Buddhist monk who was talking about gratitude. Specifically, he talked about how grateful he was for each healthy part of his body. Paraphrasing here, but he said something like, "I am even grateful for the health of my little toe, for even if the rest of my body was healthy but for my toe, its pain would become the focus of my life."

When I used to work on disability cases, I recall one woman who had a diagnosis of chronic conjunctivitis (or something like that) and she had to wash her eyes with baby shampoo. Yikes. Hopefully, they'll figure it out soon, sweet Corri.

Corri,

Does it itch & gunk up or is it just really red? The reason I ask is that my brother had something like that after he completed his Master's thesis. It was like that for over a year. The Docs basically said it was eye strain. Also, the kids and I recently shared a persistent pink eye infection back & forth for about 6 or 8 weeks. It is really miserable - I was ready to scratch my own eyes out!

Karen

PS Have you thrown out all your make-up & started over? If not, do it -brushes too!

Hmm.

One eye or both? Any itching? Any pain/foreign body sensation? Is just the eye red or also the eye margins? Any discharge? Any vision problems? Any feeling of dryness, even in the mouth? Any swollen lymph nodes around the face/neck area? Any skin changes?

Hey (((Corri))). I'm sorry I didn't get to your thread sooner and find out this was going on. Calm down a little and breathe. I don't know where you stand on all the various alternative medical stuff - but one thing's for sure conventional medicine ain't fixing it.

First off I would definitely try Vitamin A. I had a similar pink eye thing that wasn't an infection and I took vitamin A and it just cleared up. Vitamin A is essential for eye-health. And one of the early symptoms of deficiency is dryness and irritation of the conjuntiva.

If that doesn't work then homeopathy might be a good way to go. People pooh-pooh it as a placebo effect but I'm telling you it WORKS. It has worked on my babies when they were too little to be affected by placebo, it works on animals for chrissakes. People have been known to sneak homeopathic remedies into other people's food and it works. For one thing taking anti-biotics for too long is bad for you. It doesn't just kill of the bad bacteria it kills off ALL the bacteria which upsets the eco-system of your body. So step 1 come off the a/bs start taking a pro-biotic and take vitamin A. That's what I would do.

take care

Fran
