Sandi, I understand where you are at on this one. You love him very much, and want to protect him.

When "children" are all grown up though... sometimes, that's the worst possible thing to do. especially boys.

Yes, you want to avoid him suffering.
Sometimes, though, that's the only way people can "grow".
If you shield him from it, he will never be able to grow and become stronger.

It kinda sounds like you know all this already, but it also sounds like you maybe need to hear someone else saying it as well.
So, I'm saying it for you ;\)
