Jesus said...........
"Is your life full of difficulties and hardships?
Then count yourself blessed.......
For your faith has a chance to grow."

IS your life full of hardships?
It stands to reason that if it is not then nothing of sustaining value is happening in your life.

Is your life overwhelming you?
Don't you dare let it.
Take each challenge and hardship as it comes.

Be a light unto the world......
Be the person someone so desperately needs you to be to them.

Spirits strong in nature never EVER give up.
But KNOW there is a light at the end of the dark tunnel.

BE the light....
BE there for someone in need......
BE there for those the world has forgotten.
BE the LIGHT amidst the darkness

Make a difference among the timid.......
Those faltering.......
Show to them THE ROCK of Ages.

"I am your God, there is no other".

The hardest lesson that I've had to learn through my two-year separation is that I can stand for my marriage without standing in my husband's crap.

You know you don't have to stop standing, just stop standing too close.

Thanks for the reminder.

Michael English - The Only Thing Good In Me

I heard someone say the other day
They'd seen in me true love displayed
Blessed by something I had done for them
No sooner did they speak those words
I found myself somehow disturbed
Uneasy as I took their compliment
'Cause I know the heart inside this man
I know the truth of who I am

[Chorus]
The only thing that's good in me is Jesus
The only thing that's good in me is Jesus
I've lived long enough to know
No matter what this life may show
The only thing that's good in me is Jesus

If you could walk the hallways of my heart
And see things as they really are
I wonder if you might be surprised
Seeing faded walls of pride and fear
Rooms I've filled with faithless tears
And corners where I've stood in compromise
But you'd see the work His grace has done
You'd know just how far I've come

[Chorus]

In a thousand years
When the dust of this world clears
And I look back on my life
And see in perfect light

Welcome Home

Take, me, make me
All You want me to be
That's all I'm asking, all I'm asking

Welcome to this heart of mine
I've buried under prideful vines
Grown to hide the mess I've made
Inside of me
Come decorate, Lord
Open up the creaking door
And walk upon the dusty floor
Scrape away the guilty stains
Until no sin or shame remain
Spread Your love upon the walls
And occupy the empty halls
Until the man I am has faded
No more doors are barricaded

Chorus
Come inside this heart of mine
It's not my own
Make it home
Come and take this heart and make it
All Your own
Welcome home

Take a seat, pull up a chair
Forgive me for the disrepair
And the souvenirs from floor to ceiling
Gathered on my search for meaning
Every closet's filled with clutter
Messes yet to be discovered
I'm overwhelmed, I understand
I can't make this place all that You can

repeat chorus

I took the space that You placed in me
Redecorated in shades of greed
And I made sure every door stayed locked
Every window blocked, and still You knocked

repeat chorus

Take me, make me
All You want me to be
That's all I'm asking, all I'm asking

Ephesians 6:10-20 tells us, "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should."

Ephesians 6:12 clearly indicates that the conflict with Satan is spiritual, and therefore no tangible weapons can be effectively employed against him and his ministers. We are not given a list of specific tactics he will use. However, the passage is quite clear that when we follow all the instructions faithfully we will be able to stand, we will have victory regardless of his offense.

The first element of our armor is truth vs. 14. This is easy to understand, since Satan is said to be the "father of lies." In speaking to His enemies, Jesus said, 'You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies'" (John 8:44 - NIV). Deception is high on the list of abominations with God. He clearly states that no liar will be admitted in heaven. "Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter by the gates into the city. Outside are the dogs and the sorcerers and the immoral persons and the murderers and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying" (Revelation 22:14-15 - NASB). We are therefore exhorted to put on truth for our own sanctification and deliverance, and for the benefit of those to whom we are a witness. "Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee" (1 Timothy 4:16 - KJV).

Also in vs. 14 we are told to put on the breastplate of righteousness. A breastplate would shield a warrior from a fatal blow to the heart and other life and death critical organs. We see that God's help is just a prayer away for the righteous, "The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry" (Psalms 34:15 - KJV). "The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles" (Psalms 34:17 - KJV). "For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield" (Psalms 5:12 - NIV).

Verse 15 speaks of the preparation of the feet for spiritual conflict. The modern soldier needs to pay particular attention to his feet as well as did the ancient soldier. Sometimes the ancient enemy would place dangerous obstacles in the path of advancing soldiers. This is much like the land mines of today. Also disease can damage the feet of a soldier without proper footwear. The idea of the preparation of the gospel of peace as footwear suggests what we need to advance into Satan's territory with regard to the preparedness of having a message of grace so essential in winning souls to Christ. Satan has many obstacles placed in the path to halt the propagation of the gospel.

The shield of faith spoken of in vs. 16 is to make ineffective Satan's assault of sowing doubts in regard to the faithfulness of God and His Word. The helmet of vs. 17 protecting the head is, again, to keep viable a most critical part of the body. We could say that our way of thinking needs preservation. The posture of our mind is crucial in making correct moral and spiritual choices.

Verse 17 interprets itself in regard to what is meant by the sword of the Spirit. It speaks of the holiness and power of the Word of God. A greater spiritual weapon is not conceivable. In Jesus' temptations in the desert the Word of God was always His overpowering response to Satan. What a blessing, the same Word is available to us.

It is not necessary for a Christian to rebuke Satan because God has given us His full armor to stand against evil (see Ephesians 6:10-18). The most effective weapons we have against the Devil are our faith, wisdom, and knowledge about God and His Word. Even Christ, when tempted by Satan, did not rebuke him but answered him with Scripture (see Matthew 4:1-11). To gain victory in spiritual matters, we must maintain a clear conscience and have control over our thoughts. "We are human, but we don't wage war with human plans and methods. We use God's mighty weapons, not mere worldly weapons, to knock down the Devil's strongholds. With these weapons we break down every proud argument that keeps people from knowing God. With these weapons we conquer their rebellious ideas, and we teach them to obey Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:3-5, NLT).

From Rejoice Ministries (Yeah. I'm that desperate):

Q1: I am tired of waiting. What am I to do?

We asked one of local standers and workers, to reply to this question. Here is her reply. May the Holy Spirit make His application to your life as well.

"I assist Rejoice Ministries in replying to prayer requests. I have been standing for my marriage for three years and I attend Rejoice Pompano Bible Study.

"As I read your email I cried and I am still crying as I write you. I pray that the Lord will give me the words for this stander. I cry because we all know your pain.

"I have been a Christian for 3 years and the journey has not been easy. I believe it was my husband leaving me and divorcing me (which I thought I wanted) that lead me to become a Christian. I remember starting to pray and then Rejoice Ministries came into my life.

"I have learned that God loves us and He suffers our pains. He also allows things to happen to us in order to get our attention. He sure got mine and showed me where I failed as a wife. I learned the lesson early on and learned to not look at my husband's faults, but to look at my own. Looking at my own faults has convicted me and has made me shed many tears because first I failed the Lord and then I failed my husband.

"Have you asked God to speak to you? Have you remained quiet enough to hear him speak? Take your eyes off your husband and lay him at the cross every day. Pray for your spouse and the other person ask the Lord to take care of it all.

"This weekend I spent some time with Charlyne and I learned a truth that I was afraid to face or even question myself. Will I follow God whether he brings my husband home or not? I know that I will, because I desire all that he offers.

"As standers we tend to make our marriages our idols and we want things now and fixed quick. If there is only one bit of advice I can give you it is to seek God with all your heart. Learn to be a man or woman after His own heart and bathe in all the wonderful things He gives us daily, such as our health, our home, food and the ability to face another day.

"If you want to give up don't look for approval. Tell it to the Lord. If you believe the Word, you know you cannot get married because He says if you are separated either you reconcile or remain unmarried. You will be no good for your husband or wife if you don't surrender yourself, your family and your marriage to Him.

"Allow God to change you and give you wisdom. He loves your spouse and He cares about everything that is happening to you. Take Charlyne's advice and read scriptures with your husband or wife's name in them.

"The enemy will attack you forever even after you are restored. You need to know how to fight the enemy and know the Word of God. Become a student of the Word and walk in victory. When he attacks your mind tell him to "get away from me, because greater is He that is in me than He that is in the world. No weapon formed against me will every harm me." God says if you commit everything to him he will make your plans succeed. However, remember it is His will not ours.

"Forgive me if I offend you in any manner but you need to hear the truth. Don't listen to anyone around you, but go to God's Word and when you don't understand ask Him to clear it up for you.
"You are fighting for your family and for salvation. You are fighting so that these generational curses will not be passed on to your children.

"I pray right now in the name of Jesus that the Lord will speak to you and that you will find peace and clarity to know exactly what He wants you to do.

"Many blessings to you and your family. Remember God knows you by name and knows every hair on your head, not only yours but your beloved spouse too."

Q2: My spouse is still at home, but an alcoholic. I am now a Christian. Would I be better off alone?

We asked a mature stander who has lived where you are right now to reply for us;

"Never give up on God. He can and will heal your marriage. Charlyne has asked if I might feel led to respond to you. I certainly do because I too have a spouse who drinks and who has done it since we were married many years ago. I need to caution you that I really blew it big time when I sent my husband away due to his drinking. I will explain. First of all, yes, Satan had his clutches on my husband with his drinking abuse and he was wrong definitely, but I then followed Satan’s path also, in the way of complaining, grumbling, belittling him due to his inconsiderateness and all that goes with it. I felt I was better than him because I thought I was doing everything right. Was I deceived! Well, through all of that, he fell into the trap of an adulterous woman at one of the bars. When I found this out, I told him to leave and never come back until he stopped drinking because I could not live this way any longer.

"Down deep I really thought he would choose me over the drinking but he did not. Yes, he loved me but he was deep into being deceived by the devil's lies and he said he couldn't and wouldn't give up the drinking because he liked it. That really hurt because I thought his family and me was more important. All this did was throw him deeper into the other woman’s arms. He was gone when God hit me over the head and made me realize that I was also the big sinner. I was not loving my spouse as I should have. I was not having unconditional love.

"Through all of this heartache and devastation I have come so close to God and I am so thankful that He did not let me go any further. My husband is home and I continue to pray daily for his salvation and that we will someday be spiritually connected the way God wants us to be and that we will be able to share our testimony together with others to help them. I know that God will heal our marriage totally because I believe in God's promises.

"The scripture I want you to know that has deeply touched my spirit is; "I write these things to you so that you may know that you have eternal life, you who believe in the name of the Son of God. And we have this confidence in Him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that He hears us in regard to whatever we ask, we know that what we have asked Him for is ours." (I John 13:15). Please read this scripture passage over again and again. I believe God in this promise. Please do not give up. God is with you always. Rejoice in the Lord - always!"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q3: What about my mate's free will?"

A stander from Minnesota gives a beautiful reply to this challenge, that standers hear often;

"Soon after my husband left me, God turned my heart to Him. Through reading His Word, my hope and faith increased. God began to show me that all things are possible through Him. I started praying for my husband and my marriage. Before I ever heard the terms "stand in the gap" and "stand for your marriage", God was calling me to do just that!

"I truly believed that God was able to heal my marriage. However, the enemy delighted in placing stumbling blocks in my way. They came through things I read or through well-intentioned comments from friends and family. The one most frequently used was, "Your husband has his own free will and even if you pray, he ultimately will choose what he wants to do." How cunning the enemy is! Satan tells us that it doesn't matter what you pray because man can choose what he wants. But God tells us to have faith and believe and to pray without ceasing. What freedom I felt when I finally realized that yes, man does have his free will, but God will stop at nothing to bring it into alignment with His will!

Proverbs 16:9 We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.

Proverbs 19:21 You can make many plans, but the Lord's purpose will prevail.

Proverbs 20:24 How can we understand the road we travel? It is the Lord who directs our steps.

Jeremiah 10:23 I know, Lord, that a person's life is not his own. No one is able to plan his own course.

"Praise God for His faithfulness. He showed me in His Word that He has many ways of changing the hearts of men and redirecting their paths. Yes, man can choose, but God is sovereign in His perfect plan. If he calls us to pray, then believe that He is the God of the impossible and can change the heart of even the hardest of men.

"Throughout Scripture you will find many examples of God turning the hearts of kings and men to Him to fulfill His purpose. How is this done? Through the work of the Holy Spirit.

Ezekiel 11:19 And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them. I will take away their hearts of stone and give them tender hearts instead, so they will obey my laws and regulations. Then they will truly be my people, and I will be their God.

Jeremiah 24:7 I will give them hearts that will recognize me as the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me wholeheartedly.

Ezekiel 36:26-27 And I will give you a new heart with new and right desires, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony heart of sin and give you a new obedient heart. And I will put my Spirit in you so you will obey my laws and do whatever I command.

"Whenever the enemy comes against you with lies and tries to convince you that your prayers don't matter because your spouse is choosing to go his/her own way, remember the Word of God. God has called us to stand and pray for our spouse. He is faithful and His Word is true. He is the one who will change their hearts and place His Spirit in them. He will call them to obedience and repentance. Continue to stand and pray because even though man might make his plans, God directs his steps. With God all things are possible!"

AMY, hi there I was just reading your post and I felt a knot in my stomach after reading about your D thinking that H was fun in his drunken state. I was recently faced with the reality that some of my H's actions has cause a friction between my D and me who already had a strained relationship just because I am not as fun and cuddly and open with her as dad. well I thought okay during a marriage one parent can be the fun one and the other would be the police officer which I have been but I now see that my D has resented me for being the Police officer. anyways I am just rambling but I wanted to say hello just because I am having a rough time not only with H but with my oldest D as well and I am trying to learn better strategies on understanding her and helping her through this turmoil, all the while I don't even know how to hel myself through this....
