I've been standing on it a bit, not my full weight, but just resting on it-- absolutely NO pain at all: yippee!

Monday I go to the doc and I'm 99% sure he will clear me to walk on it. I'm not sure how much walking he'll want me to do or let me do. I'm supposed to have some kind of rehab. The following Monday I start school again, and my class is at 8:00 am with a long walk the length of the building from the parking lot, elevator to second floor, then long walk BACK to the other end of the building. I don't know if I will need a walker or if I should use the wheelchair just so I can move faster. I'll have had a week of practice walking before I have to cross that bridge.

Bf and I are seeing less and less of each other. Just talking on the phone. Very friendly and caring-- just the right amount of distance between us. I'm loving it! I'm getting reacquainted with MYSELF. When I first met him, I was still seriously grieving the loss of my husband, and then I just dove head first into bf's life. Now I'm coming back up and out and the world is looking better and better to me. Next week it will officially be one year since we ML.

2008 is going to be good! Eights are always good for me and also it's the Year of the Rat... and I'm one of those!!

Thanks for asking! \:\)

Great ! Don't get too carried away with the walking. I remember that once I was cleared, off I went and with the new found freedom...over did it and had a lot of soreness and stiffness to over come.

What kind of interesting classes are we taking? I've been wanting to take up some classes but it seems the only free time I have is from about 1:41 AM til about 2:09 AM and nobody seems to offer any courses at that hour

I'm glad to hear that you are coming through the thing with your bf with your head up. You seemed quite down there for a few weeks....and we don't want that now do we?

Year of the rat? Now why would you consider yourself a rat? I don't picture you as the rat type.

Lil,

Glad you are feeling good and alive. I keep waiting for a post from you that says - I'm not just walking, I'm dancing the night away with a dashing professor, restauranteur, or organic farmer. I think you are a remarkable person and will be just fine.

When are you going to talk with bf? Or are you going to?

Lil, You are doing amazing! Just a few words of caution, one physical and one emotional. First off, resist the temptation to test the ankle out to its limit. Go slowly and sensibly. I remember pushing myself and having a setback, fortunately a minor one, but it was a lesson learned, the hard way, of course. Now for the emotional: This ankle break does represent, in a way, a break from your usual routine in life. Fortunately, you came to a place of calmness and understanding ( I had a similar experience). However, as I regained my mobility, the stresses of life returned, and it was hard to hold onto some of the "gifts" that this particular time out allowed to happen. I guess what I am saying is that although you may be a rat ( I am still pondering that one) don't get caught up in the rat race of life.

Here's to a bright 2008!

The rat has to do with the Chinese zodiac (haven't you ever read the placemat in a Chinese restaurant?).

I will take it easy on the ankle. This has definitely been a break with routine. Also buying a new car was a big change.

I don't know if I will have a talk with bf. He'll find some way to turn it into an argument. I don't need or want that right now.

I vote for letting the talk slide.

Speaking of 8's, one person believes in 8's so much, he put 8 spoke custom mag wheel on his car. And yes it is something I found on the internet, 8 spoke mag wheels are supposed to bring good fortune.

Me????? I don't know. Maybe 8 spoke wheels are stronger than 5 spoke mag wheels.

Just relating some new car information I came across.

it's the Year of the Rat
I didn't see any rat in the picture you posted, just babe material in those eyes I saw in the picture.

Good wishes about walking again. WTG!

Lou

Lil,
Be careful with that ankle and follow your Dr's instructions to the 'T'. It is so easy to overdo it and injure it without realizing it, or to underdo it and end up not having full range of motion. Not to scare you or anything, but MrsGGB's ankle has been operated on 4 times now, and at this point they are saying it will never be good enough to run on again. She's happy for the days when it doesn't hurt, and happy to at least be able to walk on it. You should be able to get a temporary handicapped card to let you park closer. They may give you a cane for several weeks too. Anyway, take it easy with the ankle, and make sure you go through the full course of rehab.

Lil, I mentioned this before that when the kids were little, my family used to have fun chasing each other around, pretending to be the animals of our respective Years. When Jenny came along and sexualized the animals!

BTW, I am the Tiger! I never really thought that was too fitting, but I just read ( in your link) that my birth year is a watered down tiger, and that sounds about right!

Lil,
Glad to hear the ankle is going well. Take it easy and do rush to start that next marathon.

Glad to hear you're also at a new point in the relationship world. I hope that transition goes well. I tend to think of you as the women in the "Round Healed Woman" books, so give yourself a break and sign up for whichever website looks best and start exploring your options.

Also I'm another "rat" in the Chinese astrological chart.

Thanks Lil,

Looks like I born in the year of the dog....

THE SIGN OF THE DOG

Dogs can be a bit overwhelming, due in part to their attentive natures. They can march in and take control of a situation, even when it doesn't involve them directly. This can lead people to think Dogs are nosy or gossipy, but in reality, he just means well. Money and status don't matter to the Dog. He is more concerned with the welfare of his family and friends and will do whatever it takes to help them out of a tight squeeze or a rough spot. Once Dogs determine a subject of interest, they usually master that before taking off for a new adventure. They like to finish what they start. They are honest and trustworthy people, ethically strong and morally kept. They make loyal friends and companions.

I kind find some points in there that apply.

I felt a little inspired for some Chinese take-out and now it's time for my fortune cookie.....{crack} "Crowded elevator smell different to midget"

- sorry guys, still feeling the lingering effects of the flu to come up with something original....can I at least get a C+ for effort?

-IC
