HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! May 2008 be a great year for all of us.
First things first, some replies:
H Umm done? Me? Painting? Umm..
No actually. I got a little more of the green on the wall and didn't like it after all (does anyone want some paint?? I have a TON of extra right now!). I think I'm going to go more plain beige and just call it done. I did see some paint called "sand dune" that had actual sand in it and looked pretty neat, I may try that out.
(ST - I am so glad you knew where that quote was from, I was totally lost!!)
LooseThread Thanks for stopping by!
Is this a new username? (just making sure, I sometimes lose track of people when they switch). If not - thanks for posting to me for the first time!
Strong?? I hope so.. don't always/often feel like it but I sure try.
ST Hey!!! Hope you had a great holiday.
I'm kinda with you on the resolutions thing - I do thinka bout it more this time of year I think, but I don't put a lot of stock in the "starting Jan. 1" thing.
I DO think I'm going to start another Body For Life challenge though. I did a few in a row years ago and I felt SOOO good after. It's basically a motivational thing to keep you doing regular exercise, but it worked great for me. I want to work on getting much stronger.
Hmm interesting quote on taking great love to love and not receive it back... I hadn't heard that before. Soo true!
I'll answer your NY questions in my journaling..
SD and Donna Thanks!! Yes, let's make 2008 one to remember.. in a GOOD way!!
-------------------------------------------------- Some journaling...
The whole weekend was pretty mellow for me. Did some relaxing, some cleaning, general holiday recovery!
Some friends of ours (mostly H's though) invited us to a NYE party at their house. In past years we've always hosted one (even last year post bomb!). A LOT of people were sad we didn't do our party and kept asking about it. I'm glad we didn't though. Maybe next year eh?
Sunday night hostess called and told me the girls had decided to "dress up." Yikes, not much time to plan!! I have lost weight and none of my dresses fit me. Most are too big, and my "skinny" dresses I don't quite fit into (yet). So, I went shopping. For so many years shopping was just a nightmare for me (due to my weight and my leg brace). Everything was too tight, clingy in the wrong places, too short, etc. I was dreading it. I didn't want to spend a ton of money so I hit the local discount store - and I found TWELVE different dresses that I liked to try on. This is unheard of for me! I REALLY liked 4 of them, finally narrowed it down to 2 but I still couldn't decide. Probably $100 apiece originally marked down to $20 each. nice!! So I bought both.
Then in an attempt to find matching shoes I hit the shoe store... also frustrating usually since I can't wear heels. I found 3 pairs I liked! And on clearance!! I was a happy girl.
I ended up wearing the more "festive" of the two dresses, and apparently it was a good choice. Got quite a jaw-dropping reaction from H AND his friends. I honestly thought it was more along the lines of "cute and festive" but according to the guys it was a bit more on the sexy side. Kind of a black "mini dress" with a sparkly sheer floor length "jacket" over it. Here's the outfit (except later I had a shawl over it too): http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y258/DeltaDog2/?action=view¤t=DSC03533.jpg
Oh and yeah... my brace showed, and for once I just didn't care. That confidence sure felt good.
One of H's friends kept telling me.. "damn, I'm a good guy, you're a good woman, we're good people.. you shouldn't look like that!! We're friends!" . That cracked me up. (because I KNOW he'd never act on it, but the compliment was nice).
Had a GREAT time catching up w/some friends I hadn't seen in a long time. The kids have all gotten so big, one friend's expecting a new baby (and I didn't know until last night) - just a lot of fun. We mostly visited, snacked, danced a bit to some AC/DC... just a lot of fun. Drank too much, ate too much.. hey it's New Year's right??
At midnight we all went outside and banged on some pots and pans. H gave me a sorta lame kiss.. I pretty much grabbed him and gave him a REAL kiss and he said "Woah!" (in a good way). Bad idea? Who knows.. it just kinda struck me as the right idea at the time.
H had to work today so we left shortly after midnight. On the way home I thanked him for going to the party together and he said "Thank YOU for looking so pretty!" Aww. When we got home he stayed up with me for a bit, and said we should have a karaoke party soon - we've talked about it for at least a couple years but never planned one.
I know.. keep expectations low!! But it was sure a nice New Year's Eve.
2008's gonna be great, no matter what happens.
Thanks, friends!!
