I agree...as when my H left he said there was no reason to file for D or seperation that if I stayed married to him I would benefit from any income that he made...I thought about this long and hard...I would benefit anyway because we had been married so long...If he cared about his kids/family he could benefit us in anyway he wanted...married or not...I also realized that his debt issues were about to explode because I did find a hidden credit card statement in the trunk of the car when I took possession of it after he got a new BMW convertable (he tried to tell me work bought it and let him use it...see how stupid they think we are???)...that is when I realized that with a LS I was still married...would still benefit from things I was entitled to...but would not be drug down the financial path that I really saw him taking...
I agree...fear of the upsetting the MLC should not stop you from protecting your family...and yes, H is now very thankful that I protected myself as I did because now we do have a chance for a future...you see we had to sell our home during all of this...I have not spent my 1/2 of that money...I do intend on buying a home...which H agrees will NOT have his name on it as he will sign off immediately so that I can get a loan without him...I told him I love him and basically I trust him...but I want to make sure that if "I" buy a home that I will never be displaced because of someone elses decisions...I also can't be forced to refinance...which he did with our last home...had we NEVER done that I could have afforded to stay in the home...payments were less then $700 a month originally...now I pay rent that is almost $1300 a month and have much less room and nothing to show for it!
Well today...we are off to view the Dead Sea Scroll exhibit...a once in a lifetime opportunity...although my dad thinks it is stupid to want to see them because "you don't read that language"...oh well...I love you too, Dad...
Oh and Jeff...you don't have to put the marshmallow cream on that sandwich...that lessens the sweetness considerably...and while your thinking that direction try a grilled PB&J...they are great too...you can cheat and us the Uncrustables if you don't want to actually make a sandwich first, lol...they aren't too bad but I like more substantial bread for my sandwich and better quality peanut butter...
