Mcol,

I read the first page of posts on your sitch, but won't be able to get to the rest until late this afternoon. I just wanted to let you know that I got this and will be getting back to you. In the meantime, remember that while P&DB did a lot of "be the person your spouse will want to be with" db'ing, she was also perfectly willing to take a hard line when she needed to. That should be your model. If the Infidelity board is anything like it used to be, you'll get lots of good db'ing advice there. This forum (SSM) will probably be better at supplying advice on standing up for yourself and leading her. Also, tell P&DB to send me a short email about this from her perspective. Just a summary (otherwise she'll never finish and I'll never get it ;\) ).

Hang tight. There are no guarantees in life but you're doing what needs to be done.

SSM,

P&DB is a db'ing friend of mine. Mcol is a member of her extended family. I'd really appreciate anyone who would read over his sitch and do your best to channel NOP. Thanks.

Hey Hairdog;
It's been a bit serious around here lately so I need an opinion on whether something moves me out of nerd status or keeps me there.

Is it still nerdy to go to a Minnesota Orchestra Concert where they will be doing SF movie music to images from the Hubble Space telescope when the music includes Star Wars and Star Trek soundtrack music played live? And the concert includes a Trek actor narrating the images? (in this case George Takei)

Just curious. Besides that there hasn't been a geek out here in a while.

Scott, that is so nerdy, so geeky, so fanboy of you, that all I can do is raise my hand, split my fingers into a V, and say, "Live long and prosper."

George Takei. Seriously. It's almost too gay to conceive. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But I predict a crowd of 65 percent nerd/geek/former high school audio-visual club members, 15...no wait...10 percent wives of formerly mentioned a-v guys (because face it, most of them are still living in their moms' basements) five percent clueless Symphony season ticket holders in the over-80 age bracket, and 20 percent gay fans of George.

Have fun. If it comes to KC, I'd definitely go.

LOL!

Thanks, HD!

It was orignally scheduled with Nimoy, but apparently there was a conflict.

So of course I'm going. And I'm bringing my kiddo.

Our orchestra has done a couple of movie music concerts, including hosting the Lord of the Rings one. It is simply awesome to hear "The Imperial March" from Star Wars done live.

Hairdog: snork.

Scott, *totally* go. Yes, it's almost illegally geeky. So what? (she says, waving the geek flag for the female gender).

I've been watching Dr. Who extras and discovered that I missed a live concert of Dr. Who music, with monsters. And David Tennant. I'm so bummed. Ok, so it was in Wales, but still ....

Additional: You haven't heard the Imperial March until you've heard it as rendered by two guys on a drum kit and bagpipes, respectively. Seriously.

Has anyone else seen that new sitcom "The Big Bang Theory"? On the last episode a female nerd seduces a male nerd and then objects to his affection saying that she was just using him to get her dopamine fix.

Ket,
That is a bummer. That would have been cool. The new Dr. Who is a delight. I've been getting the DVD sets and my best bud and I watch together when we go to his place. I'm under strict orders not to watch ahead as well.

The LOR concert was awesome.

I am also tempted by the programs they are doing with live orchestra and Chaplins "City Lights" and Eisensteins "Battleship Potemkin". But due to spouse out of job, I'm just doing the Trek related one.

Thanks for the "geek" support.

Scott
