I think some of them get in over their heads and don't know how to get out of it. (Or they're too big of a pussy to do what is needed.) They don't want to hurt their S, but don't want to hurt the A person either. So everyone lives in limbo ... if the M was really THAT BAD and the A partner SO WONDERFUL, why do they hang around ... UNCERTAINTY ... INDECISION.
