Been thinking about attitude, and how I can improve and change my attitude to enhance my life. An event, good or bad, starts with a thought in someone's mind, and I want the thoughts in my mind to be good, inspiring, happy, positive ones. Here are a few things I found on this subject (you will note that these quotes have come from people from various times in history, saying the same thing in various ways. So this is a thing that we human beings have to re-learn with each generation).
"Certainly one of our God-given privileges is the right to choose what our attitude will be in any given set of circumstances. We can let the events that surround us determine our actions—or we can personally take charge and rule our lives, using as guidelines the principles of pure religion. Pure religion is learning the gospel of Jesus Christ and then putting it into action. Nothing will ever be of real benefit to us until it is incorporated into our own lives." --Marvin J. Ashton, "Pure Religion", Ensign, Nov. 1982, 63
"The greatest discovery of my generation is that a human being can alter his life by altering his attitudes of mind." William James (1842 - 1910)
"I am still determined to be cheerful and happy, in whatever situation I may be; for I have also learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon our dispositions, and not upon our circumstances." Martha Washington (1732 - 1802)
"As you approach your world, whether it's your relationships, your marriage, your career, your personal management, it's all about attitude. If you bring a bad attitude into your life, if you bring a bad attitude into your relationships, you'll get back what you give. You can never do better than your personal best, and you cannot achieve your personal best if you don't have a productive and constructive attitude." -- Dr. Phil
"Our happiness or our unhappiness depends far more on the way we meet the events of life than on the nature of those events themselves." — Wilhelm von Humboldt (From O, the Oprah Magazine March 2004)
"People grow through experience if they meet life honestly and courageously. This is how character is built." Eleanor Roosevelt, My Day
