As I have said before, the kids will respect you for the discipline, they crave boundaries as it makes them feel safe. I have perfected 'the voice', followed by the glare and then the backside swat.
Funny thing was, S7 was playing up after Judo on Sunday so I went for the backside swat. S7 spots it, tries to block it and then complains that I hit '10 times harder than Mummy'. W and I had a good laugh at this, as she stated 'well I wish I could hit as hard as Daddy'.
Don't much believe in the 'reason with your children'. I was smacked as a child and my psychiatrist says it has done me no harm LOL.
Your W needs to understand (looks like in little words), that the 'cake and eat it' has ended.
