Sara, Your feelings are very undestandable. We tend to hurt the worst when someone close to us is hurt, especially our children. I believe being emotionally exhausted is worse than being physically exhausted. I'm sure you have been watching the clock like hawk today.
Your son is so lucky to have parents who stand up for him the way you both do. I'm sure he realizes that. It will probably bring you closer. I know that when my H and I separted it certainly brought my youngest DD and I closer together. Oldest DD had always been a mommma's girl.
