I know, I know! He meant that when you put salt into the water, freeze it, and then melt it, it is colder than ordinary ice, for a while at least. Right SG, that is how ice cream is made.

Lil, the problem is if you cool off your foot too much there might be skin and cellular damage. Making your foot/ankle too cold for too long is a big problem. Do what the rehab people tell you to do.
i bet the icing goes along the lines of Chrom's post. (recommended by a sports trainer) was to put my foot in a bucket of iced water for 7 minutes at a time,
