Hola chicka!

This is our first Thanksgiving at home in 4 years. H17 used to race BMX before his skull fracture in June and the Grand Nattionals are every year in Oklahoma. Not going this year obviously so we are back to the two family scramble.

I am the casserole/side dish queen on both sides of the family so this year I am making:

Hashbrown Casserole
Sweet Potato Souffle
Green Bean Casserole
Hot Corn
Broccoli Rice Casserole
Pea Salad

And H is making his much loved baked bean (they take 2 hours to prep...)

Lissie, just used extra pecans and skip the coconut, it will be delicious!

This is also my first Thanksgiving with his family in 4 years. I am excited yet nervous but very blessed and thankful.

Cinders you are so cute

I have a thread on surving.

I am good, the kids are better, still have the pangs of him leaving.

The first thing on their santa List

was please bring Papi home (sigh)

I just got some paperwork from the L yesterday.

The D is rolling along. It sucks to have all this paper work being done, around the Holidays.

Javier is being nice, and cordial.

It means nothing, of his waking up

It meand that he is "happy" that the D is moving along.

Him and Susan are going strong

The D will be final soon

and he will be bringing her around

and I have to pray for strength, and pray that God guide me.

It still hurts

But I will not allow Javier to take away the joy of the Holidays from me.

He has taken enough

thanks for askiing sugar.

Lissie you are so brave and gracious !!! I have always had so much admiration for how you deal with everything !

Your kids know what is important in life ! As do you !

Javier is lost...he won't be forever though, I'm sure, but for now he's in his bubble....

I know you are no longer standing but you are always in my prayers still !

Thank you for always being there for me too !

You are set! How fun for you and your family, congrats on the new neice or nephew.

I wanted to pass on a story I use every Thanksgiving and my kids and neices/nephews love it.

Before the prayer is said and with everyone gathererd around the food table, pass out 3 kernels of dried corn (you can get it at a feed store or whole foods store) to each child and 5 to each adult. Then tell the story of a group of pilgims who were starving to death the first winter on this continent.

They didn't know how to farm the land here yet and were ill prepared for the harsh winter. There was a small storage of harvested corn that had been confiscated from the indians and it was their only food source all winter. To make it last, each child was given three kernals and each adult was given 5 kernals. It was their only food for an entire day. Every day. All winter.

Then ask everyone to look at all the food they are about to eat. Ask them to give thanks in their hearts for the bounty and blessings they all have.

I tell this every year and everyone is eager to hear it like it was the first time.

You are a wonderful mother, and excellent teacher and a blessed child of God. Enjoy your bounty!

This is a wonderful gift you have given me today, Thank you so much my sister.

I have printed it out.

I am fasting in prayer today, Pilar used to do it, so I figure I will carry it on today.

And this beautiful story seems to fit right in,

You are in all in my prayers, I hppe everyone gets to see that this Journey is an eye opener, and way for us to be very thankful of what we have, and not take anything for granted

I thank you TTH

You are welcome Lissie.

Now a story to make you laugh!

I have a friend who is as redneck as you can get. She was raised in the city until she turned 7 then moved with her brother to her grandparents house in Arkansas. Their first Thanksgiving there, my friend and her brother decided that they wanted to help their grandma by hunting and killing a turkey.
The found a large bird, hunted it down and killed it with a pellet gun.

They dragged the large bird home shouting "Grandma! Grandma! We got a turkey for Thanksgiving!" and handed the bird over to grandma. It was a buzzard.

Grandma tried to humor them but just fell out laughing so hard she couldn't do it and wasn't about to cook a buzzard for Thanksgiving!

I'm going home in a minute to start chopping peppers and onions and potatos. I wonder if a bottle of wine would make the work go any faster?

Hello Lissie!!! Sorry you have to deal with this - especially now. Yes - he is being nice and cordial because he is getting his "baby" ways. It will be sometime before he wakes up.

Good news for me though is that XW and XBIL don't come around much. XBIL has been in my driveway inside the car, but he knows not to even make eye contact with me. He is terrified of me. He better be...

I hope you have an awesome Thanksgiving. If I was there, I would certainly kiss the cook!!!

(((((((((((((((Lissie))))))))))))

God Bless,

Santhony
