Hi Everyone!

Thanks for the vote of confidence SAM . Yes it's really a need to just get away from it all and BE.

I agree that a trip with CJay would be great too....maybe later in the year.

Well all, today is the day of our big party. My actual birthday is tomorrow. Unfortunately I'm still kinda dragging my butt, so I hope by 8:00 I'll have found some energy to pull this off.

I'm sure once the cleaning is done, food prepped, decorations hung, and I'm all dolled up....the show will go on!!! I ususally have a blast once folks start showing up.

Funny, though, last night at my folks it became apparent to me that Gifts really aren't a huge LL for me. If anything, I tend to get a bit embarassed. I really hope no one brings gifts tonight. (Unless it's wine! ). I still have stuff from last year's birthday in their boxes .

So, I'm here when I should probably be chopping veggies, but H says he'll do the bulk of the cleaning .

So, sorry for not checking on all of you. I know some weird crap is going down for MAL, so I may send her a hug, and it's Shay's birthday TODAY!

Thanks Danny, thanks everyone.

The party was a smash. I'm not quite sure, but I'd estimate that at it's height there were about 30-40 people here. The place still smells like a beer hall .

Luckily, most of the die-hards headed out at around 2:30 to go to another pal's birthday party, so things wound down here at around 4...which would be 5 with the time change .

CJay spent most of the night working the tunes (that's where this name comes from CJ...as opposed to DJ) on his laptop, dancing. I worked the party trying to spend some time with everyone there. Plus they kept bringing gifts and cards...really, really not one of my top LL's. I just find it kind of embarassing.

After everyone left I tidied some, had a piece of cake (it didn't come out during the party) and then slept until about 5 p.m. new time.

Today Cjay was puttering around straightening things up (couldn't have been too bad, I loaded the dishwasher before turning in).

Yesterday he'd gotten a call from work asking him to come in and turn in his keys, cell, laptop. For some reason (he said he was taken by surprise) he agreed to do that today at 6:00. An hour or so before our dinner reservations.

It just bugs me that they've strung him along for so long and now he has to jump when they say jump. Plus he wanted to buy the laptop....but never mentioned it to them.

He also told me yesterday that he'd call today and cancel so as not to have to do that on my actual birthday. But apparently he had no intention of doing so.

Just feel kind of down today. I see Cjay has an envelope for me. Another card. Oh well. He sure did a lot to make the party a success. Maybe a nice dinner (breakfast?) will help my mood.

Why do I want to get away more than ever?

Later

Shiny,
Sounds like a great birthday- I was thinking of you! 5 am! Sign of success! Happy birthday!!!!!
I know what you mean about gifts too. Yesterday was a little bit of a downer for me too- birthday hangover- although I didnt drink much! I was disappointed- my H had to work!!!! and he didnt set up anyone to come over!! he said I told him not to??? Oh well, I didnt really feel up to being on display any more anyway! WE had a nice time and went to dinner as a family to a nice Italian place and then went gambling. Yesterday it was really nasty weather and slept and ate and was realy lazy. I think you do need a trip now that I think about it- get to someplace sunny!!
check out 11th hour vacations dot com!!!!
I feel bad I didnt send you a note on Sat!! but I was thinking about you!!
have a better day today- hangover is over!

Thanks Shay,

Yup I'm feeling a bit more alive today, although I'd neglected to turn my bedroom clock ahead and so got up at noon today, rather than the half-ways decent 11:00 as I'd thought.

CJay is off having his severance package checked out by a lawyer, looks like a decent pay out. All kinds of decisions as to where the $ is going to go, taxes, etc. Oh well, one day at a time.

H's card to me included tickets to see George Carlin at the end of the month, that should be fun. Still hoping for that getaway, will check out that site you mentioned.

Well now I have a little time to catch up with some of you, so that's what I'll do. HAVE to get back into my workout regime as I managed to gain a few pounds instead of losing them .

ta ta for now

Hey SB. Glad you had a great b-day. Sound like a blast!

I think many of us in Piecing need to recharge our batteries. We've put out so much effort that we run the risk of burning out. I'd encourage you to get away and do something for yourself. My haven is my garage. I hide out there and build things...

Take care and thanks for coming by my thread.

Hey SB, happy belated B-day. That was 29, right?

Thanks for swinging by. I haven't been around here much lately, and that suits me fine for now. I get depressed when I read other peoples misery, and I feel sorry for myself when I read the success stories, so I just stay away. But I'm in a better place right now, so I've been trying to catch up on everyone, which is in itself quite a chore.

Sounds like a lot of the folks I know in Piecing are going through the same things right now. Must be something in the air. Like I told Kelli, I don't feel qualified to give any advice, but I can give support, and just hope you're doing well.

I know God won't give me anything I can't handle. I just wish He didn't trust me so much.

BTW, Happy belated Birthday! Sounded like an awesome party.

Glad you had a great party! A getaway is a great idea. It does help to recharge ourselves sometimes.
