I understand bhopeful. I got two kittens after separation and I know how weird it feels. One is very sketish. I feel the day that cat will let me pet it, hold it, seeks my attention, is the day my WAW will do the same. Perhaps, things like that validate my WAW's statement that I am just sick in the head.
