my oldest brother fought with the 82nd airborne in the gulf war...
during that time...my mother sat in the sun room drinking scocth and watching cnn...
my dad sat down in his work shop making a scrap book and smoking cigarettes (he had quit many years before)
I was a freshman in college trying to live my life but couldn't even watch tv..because anytime there was a report I'd break down in tears and have to leave the room...
my other brother...well I don't know where he was during that time...probably just escaping into the world of his friends...
I went to school..I went to work...I watched my mother pass out on the couch every night til I came home to put her up to bed..trying not to knock over the scotch glass...
waiting for the day my brother would come home and hope that he was in one piece...
he did come home...
he came home and drank an awful lot...
he then married...
he then had a child...
he then bought a home...
he then got on the fire department and continued to serve the people...
he then had a second child...
he then learned his wife was screwing her partner at work...
he then asked her to go to counceling with him to repair the r...
he then moved out..
he then drank...
he has since been in a friggen fog...
I do pray for those men and women over there...I pray for their sisters and brothers...their mothers and fathers...their wives and girlfriends..their children and those yet to be born...I pray for everyone who ever knew them...their neighbors...their teachers...I pray for this whole sorry a$$ world we live in.
I am not for or against the war...I am for the world peace that I no longer naively belive will ever be achieved no matter how much we pray no matter how much we fight...no matter how many sadams we blow up there will always be some jerk making life misserable for someone out there and honestly there isn't a hell of a lot you or I or anyone can do about it...accept it...people suck!!!
