They talked about physical therapy and steroids. That won't help him. It will only aggravate his sitch and prolong the inevitable. And he is in too much pain and he's actually incapacitated - can't grip the tools he makes a living using - they expect immediate relief and full recovery with the surgery.
You know, as much pain as Jeff is in, and as frustrating as it must be, it's a wonder he is even sort of civil! All this chrap can't be good for someone who has a history of drinking, either. I hope he'll let you help take care of him as he recovers.
