CVA - Figuring out What's Next

Hey CVA,

Bit of a PMA boost today looking at my next house, but figuring out W has sign off in Texas doesnt bode well for me getting anything anytime soon.

Why does she have to sign off on you buying a house? It's not about selling your house-in-common, is it?

You women have ALL the power, literally!

That's a load of crap. How do you figure? From where I stand, your W is in a similar position to me (maybe even worse, if she's never had a career): you make all the money, you're going to continue to make money, and she's going to depend on you to keep paying.

Now, you may not feel like she has a right to continue her blond shopping lifestyle, but I'm pretty sure she's going to have *less* money after the D than she has now (as will you). Neither of you will be as well off as you were financially.

Listen, CVA: for me, it's the sheer unfairness of the fact that this was not my choice, but I'm still going to pay for it, that really gets me. I think you may be in the same boat. If I were the breadwinner and H walked, I'd have a hard time swallowing the fact that he could continue to not work and I'd still have to pay, especially if he had the kids.

By the same token, if *I'd* been the one to walk, I'd feel pretty guilty about H having to keep paying me, and---and I think this may be a bit of what your W is dealing with---I'd be afraid his resentment would creep into a D settlement.

I don't know your W, CVA, but my bet is she's scared sh*tless. What do you think?

Now, if one of my top 5 would give me incentive to speed up a D, then I could get a place! Just kidding. Just trying to have some fun again.
