Yes! It's the Benny Hill show. Staring.... Benny Hill!

I'm afraid to admit I still find that show funny!

I cannot stand that sad little man.

My father in law thinks he's great and he can never keep his dick in his pants. No wonder my H had an A.

hey atgo. benny hill lover, hmmm? have you tried little britain? not benny hill, but a bit on the zany end of things, and at least more current.

not a huge benny hill fan here. the first time I saw benny hill was at one of my uncles homes way back in the 70s and I remember watching them laugh and laugh and I just kept looking at them, like, why? not quite sure why bbcamerica insists on running it constantly when there is so much good, more current stuff around. but hey, to each their own. kind of like out pbs constantly runs "Are you being Served." I swear for a while I didn't realize it was from long ago and I wondered wtf was up with the way people in england dressed. ;\)

bbc america also runs a ton of cash in the attic and the like. speaking of creepy little guys (meaning benny, not alistair), wtf is up with the guy on bargain hunt? he looks a little like dudley moore and reminds me of the guy bridget jones's mom falls for. lol.

saffie, love the books, thanks! you can e-mail me thru my profile with the less mind-candy-ish ones, too. I love to read, and the way tv is, well, going to be doing a lot of it this winter. \:\)

had a chat with my friend (the therapist, not my therapist) today. it was a nice chat...I actually helped her with a problem (gasp) for a change. mostly we chatted about her life, but a bit about what was going on with me and how my session went today.

I just have to say how bizarre things feel to me. my therapist and my friend are two of my biggest cheerleaders, and they are both so happy with some of the progress I have made. novel notions that I finally accept:

its okay to be sad sometimes
its okay to be angry sometimes
its okay to say I am sad and angry...its healthy, even
its okay to distance myself from h
its okay to go into self-preservation mode
its okay to be okay

I have been taught my whole life to stifle my emotions, to keep them in (well, except joy, gratefullness, that kind of thing). I am finally, after 40 years, beginning to accept that emotions are NORMAL.

We can't blame Benny Hill for your H infidelity anymore than I can blame desperate housewives/sex in the City on my W's infidelity. It all comes down to individual choices.

Our entertainment industry does seem to portray Marriage and fidelity in a negative light though.

actually, I think SATC did a very good job at de-glorifying infidelity. there were always consequences, none of them good. kind of like anna karenina...the guilty party was always hit by a train, one way or the other.

samantha got ousted by society, and then had her own heart broken by richard.

carrie had a mess on her hands with big...wow, did they show how seedy affairs can go, and how it may start out all sunshine and roses and secrets, but doesn't stay that way. they did a wonderful job showing how much a toll it took on her. not to mention, poor natasha and her broken tooth. I wonder if in my case, if h's ow ever felt half of what carrie felt, the guilt, the insecurities, any of it.

charlotte did everything she could to save her marriage, even when it was falling apart, and her one little sort of dalliance with the gardner did not lead to anything but problems. I actually like charlotte's story, because she was able to show how hard some people work to try to save their marriage, and even though it couldn't be saved in the end, she still ended up happy with someone else.

Miranda...was miranda ever involved in an infidelity at all? I can't think of any.

Well, she rejected Steve and dated the doctor in her building and then realized she loved Steve and got back together with him.

steve was a big old whiney mess, but then he went out and started dating whats-her-name and moved on and that is what I think finally made miranda see him again.

miranda did see the dr., but no infidelity, she was upfront with him, wasn't she?

The Benny Hill comment was just a throw away line. He was a sleazy little git though - even in real life.
