I'm grateful that my bf stuck by my side last night when I was at the ER for a broken ankle. I slipped off a curb and definitely heard a crack when I went down. Some nice people nearby came and brought me ice and a pillow and a blanket while I called bf on his cell phone. That was at 5 pm. We went to one ER, but the wait was nine hours, so we went elsewhere and I got seen pretty soon. The ankle was broken in two places and also dislocated. They gave me happy juice while they re-located it (or whatever you call it) and put it in a splint. Have to go to an orthopedist tomorrow, as it may need surgery. He stuck to me like glue. Since his LL is Acts of Service, helping me through this gives him a chance to express his feelings in a way that suits him very well.
If anyone has any comments, I'd appreciate the "miraculously speedy recovery" anecdotes and not the "her ankle was never right again" anecdotes, okay?
ugh Lil. I broke my ankle too...in 3 places no less, after sliding on motor oil in a freak split second moment. I have a plate and a bunch of screws. The good thing I learned from it was how to relax and let others do for me...when you are forced to be off your feet, you just have to accept it. Suddenly things that seemed to matter so much are no longer important.
When I went through that whole thing, my visitors would mention I seemed so calm...they were still in the rush of life.
Your computer will now be your best friend.
And kudos to your bf for being there for you...I am sure he appreciates the opportunity to be the caregiver, and give back to you, so let him!
BTW, I am surprised you were discharged from the hospital. I was admitted and placed on a morphine drip. The surgery was a few days later.
Oh nooo Lill, I guess you should be grateful for that concrete sidewalk that broke your fall I'm just kidding Lill, I really do feel for you and I'm grateful that you'll have a speedy and full recovery
9 hour wait !! Hell, damn thing would be healed up before the doc's even got to see it
ok, I think I'm gonna go get me mine own cold bottle of happy juice now

Not an ankle story but I didn't take any meds today. Still sore if I bend too far but I think I will have a speedy recovery.
WOW, 9 hr. wait in the ER?
Well, sounds like you lucked out with a bf that has an acts of service LL.
Hairdog I've been thinking about you, Lou. I had a hernia repair several years back and it's no fun.
Sorry yours wasn't fun. Mine isn't much more than an inconvience compared to the back problems I have had in the past.
I have to take my time bending over to tie my shoes and take my time getting out of bed. Of course there's usually 1 or 2 dogs in the way, that I have to step over when I do get out of bed. It is a strech sometimes.
The dogs remind me of the ones on the Hee Haw program skit "The Culhanes" where the dogs slept on the porch all of the time and nothing disturbed them. BB's dogs do like to chase deer. It is good exercise.
Lill, I hope all goes well with the orthopedist tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you. Do we need to send you one of those little bells to ring when you need something from bf?
Lou, Glad to hear your surgery went well and here's to a speedy recovery
Wow Lill, do you think we need to start a new thread...we've got you with your ankle, RJ with her ankle story, me with my knee, Lou with his hernia surgery, Red Head Wife with her surgery...and I'm sure I'm missing some. Sounds like we need to invest in our own M.A.S.H. unit
Lil, Good luck tomorrow!!! And....great idea for a thread.
I'm grateful that my daughter is doing well in college and will graduate long before the 12 yrs allotted to her is up!!! I'm also grateful for my good health, decent retirement income and the love of a wonderful man. Oh yeah, and for the part time job I just started which I love!!!
Also, I'm thankful that my H had an affair and I divorced him!!! Seriously, I really am. My life has never been better!!!
