Have you thought about separate parties for your DD? One for your family and friends and let her wonderful mother throw her one also. I bet the second wouldn't happen, but this way you could insure that you get to handle the invite list. Tell alien wife she is invited, but she can't bring any guests without your approval since you will be throwing this party. I know this sounds complicated, but it's a thought.
