My dad was a marine and was in the vietnam war, he showed us absoutely no affection what so ever. Never once said I love you. Although I know he does, just can't show it. the first time he actually hugged me was when his own father died, he was devasted.

My H's dad, crazy and derranged as he is, is affectionate and says ILY to my H.. so I guess that's where my H gets it from.

But Saffie.. your right, it does have a lot to do with your own parents. My Mom is very affectionate and loving women to us so maybe that's why i feel the way I do about my own kids.
