Air Force Brat and wife here! Geez I still act like I am married sometimes!!! Does anyone else do that? Make comments about your spouse and chime in at lunch like, "Oh yeah, my H does that too!" Huh?

Hey Guys. Hill is right. I'm just coming up for air. Period of insane activity. I'm fine! You guys could never offend me. Are you kidding? Matilda; you're always looking out for me, c'mon! I couldn't get mad at you!

After the last set of emails from my W., I've almost had a heavy burden lifted off me (all except when I awake at the beginning of a day when I'm alone and sad about the whole thing)

I have come to the expectation and realization that it's over. What can I do except prepare myself for that inevitability. What can I say? Semi-frustrating. I had to counsel a field grade officer who works for me today. He's got a wife and 4 kids at home. W. loves him to death, and he was pursuing a 23 year old young sergeant via email, who got creeped out. When I read the emails, I did too. He told me he just wanted a "friend". ME TOO! I have 20 of them here. All my rank, my sex and my age! None 15 grades below me and 30 years younger! This is a huge breech of confidence, and I made sure that this guy will feel the entire brunt of that breech.

It is so frustrating. Guys like this with wives at home who love them to death, and he's chasing a 23 year old who is creeped out by him. I sit here celibate living the Army Values! Life IS NOT fair, but we know that.

I fly tomorrow for a couple of days. I'll be back.

Hill: How's the "X" taking the fact that her son is joining the military?

Matilda: saw a great spoof today. A picture of some AF guys running, with the caption under it: "Air Force PT. Maybe We should Just Stop Kidding Ourselves"

Glad you are alive and well, FLTC!

I know what you mean about waking up feeling sad. There are times I wake up hoping it's all just a bad dream. Then I look over at the other side of the bed and it's stilll empty. We'll get through this one way or another!!! In the long run I know I will be better off.....but the in-between stuff sure stinks!

How did the guy react to your counseling?

X is not happy about the Marine Corps and wanted the AF. XSS simply was too rebelous and the Marines are the Oakland Raiders of old of the Armed Services. Honestly did not push any one branch but did admit what I feel his best fit would be.

Frankly I could care less what she thinks and I am sure I am to blame along with global warming. Guilty as charged and darn glad of it or "THank you Mamm may I have another?"

Understand on your Junior Officer thats a huge no no on two counts. It was a shock as a medic that Nurses were off limits since I dated many prior to being married and my enlistment then off limits and saluting their rank. The O1s did giggle when the crusty old docs in alphas saluted them and called them mamm. Hard to keep military bearing. Arrrrrg mateys.
I tell people Fair is what you attend on liberty and Liberty is a ship shot up by Israel in 1967 now have a fine Navy day.

Best wishes to you and your Soldiers and please make the bad guys pay.

FLTC and Hill (Hill, do you have your own thread?). Tried to find the book mentioned in an earlier post--The Jungle is Neutral. Thought it would be a good Xmas gift for my BIL (who is in the Army). Apparently it's hard to get....only 5 copies in all of the US??? There is a new book out on the Korean War so thought of that instead. Have you seen it? (can't remember the name at the moment)

Now creating a thread called No hills home thread in surviving. Been divorced a couple of years thus only post other threads elsewhere. Honestly do not have too much to say on relationships since I was so bad at them Thus not much traffic there.

My X has accepted the fact XSS will be a Marine and I believe she is proud secretly. Grandpa, Uncle, and I were/are Navy so we will have a Jarhead vs Squid thing going.

He did 89 on the ASVAP and 125 on the GT so he pretty much gets his pick of MOSs. Nothing against Grunts but I would prefer another MOS first.

Hope you are doing well.
