Exiled is right. No matter if it is this OW, or someone else (or you back with H), you are Mommy, you are always going to be in their lives longer than anyone.

lwb, let me know how bee movie is for kids. maybe will take mine this week, if h doesn't take them tomorrow (its supposed to rain, so he might).

yeah, I'm assuming ow will be in the picture, because its time to just accept that at least for now, she will be, and soon enough my kids will be spending time with her. my H is in looooove with her, after all. who knows how long it will last, but for the time being I think she will be, and sooner rather than later. don't get me wrong, I'm not fretting about it, just know its bound to happen and getting closer to accepting that along with the rest.

I have come a long way on my insecurities there. I still have occasional visions of me as the single mom with a hell of a lot less income, not being able to be as cool as daddy and ow together (they both make very good livings, so together, watch out, the world will be their oysters).

does anybody remember Designing women? I haven't watched it in years but remember an ep where mary jo's daughter was spending more time with her father and her new stepmother. stepmother bought her tons of stuff...all the best clothes, and for some reason I remember a carousel horse. their house had tennis courts and a swimming pool and all the stuff a kid could want. mary jo lived in a perfectly fine colonial, but it would never measure up. not to mention even if she could afford all that stuff, she was too good a parent to just give it out willy nilly.

anyway, I was thinking about that ep a while ago and yeah, it does make me think occasionally. but I've come a long way, and much like mary jo, I realize that I am mom, and I will always be their mom. ow might become a big part of their lives, but I don't think she can ever quite usurp me.

thanks atgo about the storm door. will likely have my friend's h help me with it. maybe I'll see if he can this weekend. I've already pressed him into service for when we get our christmas tree. \:\)

"The Strong One" by Clint Black.....

When God made woman I wonder sometimes
If it was a flower he had in mind when he made her
A touch as gentle as a butterfly
A kiss so sweet it could stop time forever
God gave man a chance to be the kind of strength a woman needs
He was suppose to be the one to carry that load

CHORUS:
But there she goes
Baby in her arms
World on her shoulder when her day starts
Working a job that don't pay much
but she thanks God it's enough
There she is
on her own two feet
He walked out
but she's still got dreams
Tries to laugh when she feels like crying
Nobody blame her if she stopped trying
But she's got a heart that gives and gives
Now you tell me who the strong one is

Tonight's the first night in a while
She put on her makeup wearing a smile
She'd going out
And everything was all planned out
but the fever that the baby's got now
It's all shot down
She gives up what she wants to do for what she has to
That's what a momma does
She'll be there like she always is
when the son comes up

CHORUS
And there she goes
Baby in her arms
World on her shoulder when her day starts
Working a job that don't pay much
but she thanks God it's enough
There she is
on her own two feet
He walked out
but she's still got dreams
Tries to laugh when she feels like crying
Nobody blame her if she stopped trying
But she's got a heart that gives and gives
So you tell me who the strong one is

And there she is on her own two feet
He walked out but she's still got dreams
Tries to laugh when she feels like crying
Nobody blame her if she stopped trying
But she got a heart that gives and gives
So you tell me who the strong one is

You tell me who the strong one is

nice, lwb.

ya know what i can't get out of my head today? the martina mcbride song:

This is for all you girls about thirteen
High school can be so rough, can be so mean
Hold onto, onto your innocense
Stand your ground when everybody's giving in

This one's for the girls

This is for all you girls about twenty-five
In little apartments just trying to get by
Living on, on dreams and Spaghetti-Os
Wondering where your life is gonna go

(Chorus:)
This one's for the girls
Who've ever had a broken heart
Who've wished upon a shooting star
You're beautiful the way you are
This one's for the girls
Who love without holding back
Who dream with everything they have
All around the world
This one's for the girls

This is for all you girls about forty-two
Tossing pennies into the fountain of youth
Every laugh, laugh line on your face
Made you who you are today

(Chorus)

Yeah we're all the same inside
From one to ninety-nine

(Chorus)

had a good day. the kids are off with h now, and I did something I've never done before...I lit a fire in the fireplace. normally that is h's domain. its nice, I'm snuggling under a throw on the couch watching it. well, that and watching arrested development.

I got a ton done today, will continue tomorrow. tonight, though, well, I'm done. just going to relax. watch a little more AD then start my book.

can i just say I love a nice fire.

granted, it would be nice to have someone to snuggle on the couch with, but hey, not going to let that stop me.

hope everyone is having good night.

Hey Morgan, I hear you about the fireplace. I just moved into my new place in August and I have a huge fireplace. I have been chopping wood back in my brother's back yard and hauling it over to my place every since in anticipation of winter. I have plenty on my patio to last two winters. I've only used it once so far, but as the weather gets colder I'll have that puppy going all the time.

I think it could be very seductive along with a good movie and some fine wine. I know, because I seduced myself the one time I had it burning. \:o

Morgan, Can I come over to play and watch AD?
MK's Picks:
Angry Chick Rock: The Distillers "Beat Your Heart Out"
Break Up Song from a man who knows pain: Jeff Buckley-"Last Goodbye"
Music from a man who is very sexy: Foo Fighters-"Everlong"

Hanging a door is not at easy as it looks. I would hire a handyman. Mine is off centered and it is a very precise thing to hang. Not easy.

Love that Martina song BTW.

Re OW and kids: I loved the way the Starter Wife handled the OW. The OW was actually this famous rich singer who all the girls adored including the daughter of teh Starter Wife. She was a fan, but the Starter Wife was a mom and a real woman. She would just act happy that her daughter had fun. My dad's wives have always been very nice to me, much nicer than my mom, but so what. Respect and admiration is given to the mother no matter what.

I am so lucky that my H's OW is such a freak that even he would never introduce her to the family. I guess that is one saving grace about my H seeing a tramp. ironic.

my fire is lovely. sadly, no seduction going on, of myself or others. lol.

mk, thankfully I'm not hanging the door, just switching out the screen for the storm.

now why don't you live closer? we could have some lovely hanging on the couch nights, couldn't we? I'm up to season 3 of AD and omg, I just laugh and laugh its wonderful. Cold Feet has gotten tough to watch, though. ouch. too close to home right now.

never saw the starter wife. I think h and ow watch it, though. he made a comment to me about it one time (asked if I was watching and said it was good that I wasn't).

I'm still having a nice night, but now I'm worried about neph. wish I could give her a hug and kick her h's ass. wow, just when I think mine is the biggest jerk around, hers just takes the cake. good lesson for me, though, to stay the hell away from h and ow.

yep, lwb, hear me roar.

ahhh, marshmallows, that's what was missing! I want to get one of those long handled popcorn popper things that you shake over the fire. that would be fun, wouldn't it? (or maybe one of those thngs that sounds like fun, but ends up being a pita and makes your arm hurt. lol)
