Hope your birthday was grand, MK. Sorry I didn't get on sooner to wish you a happy day before it was over.

I suck almost as much as your H!

"And if I die today
I'll be the Happy Phantom
and I'll go chasing the nuns out in the yard
and I'll run naked through the streets
without my mask on
and I will never need umbrellas in the rain
I'll wake up in strawberry fields everyday
and the atrocities of school I can forgive
the Happy Phantom has no right to bitch." (Tori Amos)

MK, you live your life transparently with courage. There is freedom in that. There is strength in that. Joy is within your grasp because of that. Your H can't touch that.

mk,

NOW I can see why you miss the guy. 1984 Hawaii T-Shirt? Let me guess: Mullet and Fu-Man Chu mustache as well? some guys don't know how good they have it. This whole thing will come down in flames around him sooner or later, as this young kid (23?) grows up and starts to mature. Then what will he do?

OMG, I think I just had the best birthday of my life! I don't remember ever having so much fun! My friends and I went out to a beautiful restaraunt and then went shopping!!! I bought a designer dress for my reunion and yes, it was almost the same size as I wore in high school. Almost. GRINNING!!! I never buy designer anything! I literally shop at Target for all my "teacher" clothes. My friends made me buy it and I am so grateful. They said, "Be happy, get rid of that Mommy Guilt!"
The drinks were so fabulous, the best really.

Oh Yeah, My H called several times. Was he checking in? He felt very left out that I had so much fun. He was so eager to hear what I though about the U2 card! He said he wished he could have been there to see my face when I opened the card. he really thought I was going to love it? I said, "It was so cute, really funny!" He called right after the kids sang to me. I know he was sad he could not be there for another important family event. His loss. I said, "I got a card from Mom ( I call MIL, MOM) and she sent me some spending money, I am so excited! I just love the things the kids picked out, thank you so much for doing that!" I could almost hear the tears welling up in his eyes.

FOLKS, nothing is more surreal than having to facilitate your own birthday party with a 6 and 2 year old. Let me explain. Most of the time if it is Mommy's birthday then Daddy does all the set up. Because if there are kids, then usually there is a mOmmy and daddy, Right? Well, when Daddy takes off, Mommy has to do something like this.

"Kids, lets get Mommy's cake now. Ok kids, lets light Mommy's candle. What should Mommy wish for? Oh, you want to me wish for hugs and kisses? Ok! Now, here is Mommy's present from S2. Ooo." So weird and kind of ...no I will not say it.

Luckily, luckily, I could not feel sorry for myself because Friend J said she does that all the time because her H is a firefighter, Freind O said she does that all thetime because her H is a nurse, and Friend G said she is a lesbian so she will never have a man throw her a party anyways. we laughed our a$$es off to that last one!!

Hi MK. So glad your day was wonderful. That sounds like so much fun. You handled H with such class and dignity! Good for you! I'm so proud!

What did H get with the kids? You left that out on purpose, I know you did. The suspense is killing me. Really.

Neph, You are so funny. Well, remember when I was so hurt because my H had to say, "The kids picked out the gifts, not me." And I took it as him saying, don't look at me. I had nothing to do with it. Well, when I told him how much I appreciated it, this time he kind of said the same thing with a different spin, like he wanted to give the kids the credit because we should be proud of how thoughtful they are. he said, "The kids picked them out all by themselves! They knew exactly what Mommy wanted. they are getting so big. D6 wanted Mommy's hair to be pretty and S2 loves taking bubbly baths. Isn't that great?" What a different spin hearing it put like that.

Kind of like Sally's episode in the closet, eh Morgan?

I got Dreamy Bath Products and expensive hair care. Really nice. Nothing romantic or overly sexy, just neutral and girly.

Thank you so much LWB. I do feel that the 48 hour rule is the only way I can get through this roller coaster. It has helped me so much to stay positive and look back at the pain instead of overblowing it. This is a crazy analogy but it is like that feeling after you have a baby. It was hard during labor but afterwards you don't really remember the pain so much cuz the baby is needing you. Maybe since we wentthrough all that, we can go through anything after 48 hours?
