There is no doubt a significant and dramatic global weather pattern is possible. We just need to look at the ice age to understand that.

Right. Ice ages come and go. There was a mini ice age in the 15th century. I think we're supposed to be due for another one. If that happens, all this global warming talk will end.

My husband is a big criticizer of global warming. He thinks it the corruption of science by politics. Similar to what Crichton says, but not as engrossing. So it was nice for a change to read something my husband would agree with.

See how insignificant our troubles are compared to the worldly disasters that await us?

Well you know it's interesting. We were hit by hurricane Katrina. And as soon as we fixed up the house and sold it, my husband started his affair. So I don't know how it relates. If we hadn't been part of a disaster would he have done it? Or maybe one thing has nothing to do with the other. But first one house got physically hit by a hurricane, and then this one got emotionally hit the same way.

Please permit me to weigh in on the global warming debate.

We can all agree that, at some point in the past, the earth as a whole was significantly colder than it is now. We can also agree that, at some point in the past, the earth was significantly hotter than it is now. These facts are indisputable.

So who the heck are we to decide that the temperature of the earth right now is the ideal, perfect temperature? It smacks of human arrogance.

I am of the opinion that the earth gets cooler, and it gets warmer. Humans (or any other animal for that matter) are incapable of changing the earth's atmosphere.

And the debate continues...

I like it warmer anyway.... more days to lounge around Sara's pool...

BTW, glaciologically, "ice age" is often used to mean a period when ice sheets are present in the northern and southern hemispheres; by this definition we are still in an ice age (because the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets still exist). Citation

Thank you, Mark. You just endeared yourself to my Husband. Lounge around the pool as much as you like. He'll probably bring you a beer.
