I am sorry to hear of your nephews travails. Seeing where my SIL is after a year of cancer treatments and surgery, all I can say is for your nephew to keep a PMA. My SIL is a fighter. It sure seemed to help her.
Other than that, it sounds like you just keep moving forward and I always enjoy reading where things stand with you (though I don't care about your STBX and his problems). And I am still waiting for my email!!!!!!
Things are good with me other than spraining my ankle last week. It still is bothering me because we fiftysomething people just don't heal as well as we did when we were fortysomething (and in turn 40s don't heal as good as 30s, etc). But it didn't keep me from playing golf.
