I think it has to do with the self-delusion.
I believe my W actually thinks her actions will have no negative impact on our children's lives. She has actually bought into the MIL's cynical view that divorce is a "blessing" and that kids are so much more "resilient" than people realize -- and often come out stronger. Barf!
My reaction: "How worldly of you."
