Theo, There has never been any doubt that you are a decent guy.

The fact that she was hurt by the fact that you didn't pay attention to her birthday shows that she is suprised that perhaps you are not as wrapped up in her as she thought AND that what you do does matter to her. Isn't that good? I know it's not put the flags out and hold a parade good but it shows that feelings other than dislike still exist.
