My gut instinct was to say stick with the "this is what I think would be best for me" statement, but now I think your idea would be good too. It still gives W the space to see what a D would really be like, gives her time to see you doing okay without her, and gives you what you and the kids need (a place for you guys to spend time together w/out the W around). All of this without pressure on the W and under the guise of "joint decision and benefit".

I like it a lot!
