In this case it's between wife and me. Really. The way to check is to replace the me (or I) with a him or he and then you know which to use.
Fran The third "use of English" musketeer
Thanks, Fran
IC, it's "I" when it's the subject of the sentence, and "me" when it's the object of the sentence (the thing that is DONE TO-- and I know you know what THAT means ) OR the object of a preposition (if it helps, think of it as the object of a PROposition). Sex and grammar. Star Trek and relationships. Works for me.
Lil resheathes her grammar sword
ETA: AND puts her quill back in its... er.... quill holder?... Lil makes a mini-sheath for her quill. YEAH! That's the ticket!

There's a commercial on tv where the speaker says something along the lines of "if you need help with xxx, call Fred and I". Drives me batty.
My German is far too rusty. I was worried more about word order than plurality. ROFL yet again.

Heh. I believe I got it wrong too. It must be "du hast" I think. Darn German verbs! *dusts off "German Grammar for Southern Belles, Part One", and vows to study it intently. Some day.*
LOL. Reminds me that my W minored in French as an undergrad. Being quite the Southern Belle herself, one of her professors described her accent as "Southern French." He used to ask her specifically to say things in class and would just grin at her heavy accent.

LOL. I had French in high school, and M. Clobert mainly just rolled his eyes at us. Zee accent, eet eezz très difficile, non?
'Course his English wasn't much better than our French, but did we tell him so and groan and wave our arms in despair? Never. We have manners, here in the South.
I think the plume should be replaced with a quill - in keeping with the literary purpose of your alliance with HD and LIL
Must be a byproduct of my sexual moratorium, but I read this as "dalliance with HD and LIL." J'aime ma menage a trois. (tried, but couldn't get the proper accents to show up)
