husband,

Hope you are feeling OK today.

I understand your frustration at your W re your son learning to ride his bike. However, my son didn't learn until he was 10 either - even tho all my girls were off stabilisers and riding bikes well before they were 4 yrs old. That was really embarrassing for my son, that his baby sister could do it before he could esp., as he is great at sport. When he did decide he wanted to put the effort in to learn I physically was not strong enough to hold him on the bike and set him off like I had my girls and he and I got very upset with one another - we didn't have the patience to both deal with it. In the end I walked away from it and he learnt by himself and happened to tell me later on, on the day he managed it.

I guess what I am trying to say is that altho' I acn be patient and help him with a lot of things, with this one thing I couldn't, and we just rubbed each other up the wrong way. His embarrassment/ frustration combined with my lack of physical strength and frustration at his inability to master what I saw as something he should easily have been able to accomplish, was just a bad mix. At the end of the day he managed it and we just moved on.

Maybe, your W had tried on earlier occasions and realised they couldn't help one another with this.

You got bigger fish to fry than this one so I'd just let go.

I'm glad he managed it!!! \:\)

While I agree that Saffie makes a good point, I would theorize that wife had no interest in witnessing husband's strong fatherly skills. She had no interest in witnessing what she is considering walking away from. She would rather watch "Dancing with the Stars" than husband working with his son on a significant milestone in his life.

Very sad indeed. And I agree that you should vent here, then let it go.

Hey Saffie and mark,

Thanks. I am not feeling any pain. Cold is 99% gone. Saffie My W does have a bad back. And I do think I was just whining last night. It just felt so good to see that accomplishment. I don't get caught up in TV as much as most people I guess. What ever happens on TV can and will happen again some time. In life you only get one shot.
Thanks for telling me about your son. Next step is to get him sleeping by himself and W back in my bed. Hey Mark, Have you heard that saying if you don’t use it you lose it????????

Tal,

I found "chocolateeyes thread and have been reading it thanks. That will be the next step if this letter is not her wake up call.

husband,

Big thumbs up on the bike, bet the pain was more than cancelled out by the pride in seeing your son on his bike.

I think in respect of your W, its her loss, not yours. She will/is probably regretting it even now.

Very interested in your email, sounds like a good one. I'm not there yet (and hopefully wont be), but I might ask for a copy.

Also, what's with the 'bonehead'? I feel like I am missing out!!!!!

Sorry about your wife not being interested, some people are too self absorbed and yes it probably was just a one time deal.. vent away... Whe my kids do something they haven't done before we both make a big deal about it, no matter what we are doing at the time..

Hope you are feeling better.. Your a great father H!

TAL,

Now you are making me feel very guilty!!!

When our eldest child walked for the first time she did it with no warning. There were no practice steps with quick bottom drops or anything. She spent a whole Sarurday learning by herself to stand and then the next day she just got up mid afternoon and walked across the lounge. This was amazing - it was 8 days before her first birthday. Fantastic - BUT- Nigel Mansel was on the penultimate lap of the British Formula 1 Grand Prix which he was winning. H and I LOVE F1 racing. D couldn't have timed it worse - just 3 minutes later would have been great

I think perhaps that was the day our M started to go wrong!!!!

Having said that husband, I totally agree that most things on television get repeated and life in the real world come first.
