Well I WAS feeling a bit better today...until I rear-ended a student's car on my way to the parking lot at school .
She was parked in the middle of the little one-lane road leading to my section of the parking lot (people do drop off students there, but usually pull over to the right). She must have been in park (no break lights) and by the time I realized she wasn't moving, it was too late. Slammed on the breaks but hit her anyway .
Small scratch on her bumper...crushed grill, dented hood on our car. Our only car. Crap!
H was very nice about it (it's only an accident, S, don't worry). He's out getting an estimate right now. If it's not too high we'll pay out of pocket to protect our perfect driving record and insurance rate.
Sure hope the student doesn't decide to get nasty, we only had time to exchange names and phone #'s as we both had a class to get to. Why couldn't it have been one of MY students? Could have cut some kind of deal . J/K!
We have another C session in two hours, better pull myself together!
I was just internally lamenting having to call up my journal (where the directions for doing so are) and going through all that labour.
Wait a minute, you were probably referring to your impossibly long thread!
What is up with that thing? Should I just keep posting here and see what the limits are to mine?
Any way, things are good over here today. All kinds of running around for the car (police reports, insurance, etc). Looks like we'll take the hit to our perfect driving record as the combined repair costs are over $3000 .
H is out nabbing a few essentials from Walmart in consideration of my tender tootsie.
I'm doing school work right now (honestly!) but thought I'd pop in and see how some of you are doing.

P.S. Oh yeah, our C session went quite well, don't go back for a month
Shiny, that sucks. The hits just keep coming, don't they? My W has trouble with stationary objects too. She has hit a parked car and an ATM within the last year (maybe she had too much on her mind???).
I hope your C session goes well tonight. Hang in there a don't get bummed about the car. You could do what I did once: go to the repair shop, ask for an estimate and a chance to see the facilities. While looking around the guy doing the estimate will get called away (they always do when you take too much of their time). When he/she is gone, ask one of the body repairmen if he could fix your car at home or if he knows of someone who can. This could save you 1/2 the money, especially if you buy your own putties and paint (get code from driver's door for paint color). Hope this helps.
SB -- I love that all is well in Shinyville! How's the day to day stuff going?
BTW -- thank you for the kind words about my postings ... (saw your reference to me on SBH's thread). It really touched me to think that I might be inspirational to someone!
